Enough to know that this is bad, and that if he doesn't put a stop to it now there's no telling what'll happen. It'll be hard to do, god knows; but it needs to be done. And he needs Dean in on this. Sam'll be less suspicious if he's there too.
So he tells Dean what they have to do.

Summary
Dean lives in a world where, sometimes, a person will gain a blue mark on their skin wherever their soulmate will touch them first. Whenever the soulmate touches them, the blue coloring goes away, and it should remove the mark entirely. Unfortunately, things don't always work out for the Winchesters. John thinks soulmates are a curse, and hates the concept of them entirely; when Dean develops a mark, he has to hide it.
Since getting the mark, Dean starts having dreams of a 'mystery man' he's never seen before. For years, he wonders if maybe it's a clue to his soulmate: when the dreams end up having a connection to the person he was fated to meet, whether it be for better or worse, he must learn to navigate this newfound 'relationship' of sorts - things aren't easy, though, when his soulmate is adverse to talking about it at all. Cue Dean's frustration and unfortunate infatuation.

Rowena loves Sam Winchester. There is not a doubt in her mind about that statement. She’s also pretty confident in saying that Sam Winchester loves her too. The only thing she is absolutely unconfident in, is if she can handle his love. He loves with his heart, his body, and most of all his soul. It’s overwhelming, it’s suffocating. Some days Rowena feels as if she’s going to die from being smothered in praises, and kisses, and gifts, and small notes, and small gestures of kindness, and random hugs from behind, and random ‘I love yous’. She doesn’t know how much more she can take.

"C'mon. The drive's just a couple of hours. We can make a day trip out of it," Sam says, and Rowena arches an eyebrow. "There might not even be a case. It'll be nice to get out of the bunker for a weekend."
At that, Rowena softens, relenting. After a string of back to back cases that had worn them out, it would be nice to get away from the bunker for a few days.
"Where are we going?" she asks, and Sam grins, fingers curling around her waist and tugging her close, his free hand stroking her curls from her face before his thumb dragged down the round of her cheek.
"Smallville, Kansas. There's been some weird stuff in the news, so I thought we could at least check it out. See if there's anything funky we need to investigate," he answers, and Rowena nods, humming- her hands draw his face down to hers, and they get lost in their kisses for a handful of long moments.
