Tenna wasn’t used to having problems. If his crew couldn’t fix it in a matter of hours, it got swept under the rug until it went away. It had to go away, because if it didn’t, that could mean he was broken, and that was a death sentence for an obsolete Darkener like him.
Except after his cleaving, Tenna did have real problems. He was broken, and everything he had ignored for years had caught up to him. There was no way around facing it anymore. And that was terrifying.
Some were harder to accept having than others. Some were understandable after what he’d survived. But others were just humiliating. Above all was his weakened bladder. He hated to think what others might think if word got around, or worse, if his body betrayed him in public! But perhaps not all would think less of him. And for that, there was still hope some Lightener would take him as he was, and maybe give him a second life.
