Looking back, there were signs that Ilya was ready and wanting to have kids.
It didn't start off as much; Ilya waving at and cooing to babies in grocery carts while they did their weekly shopping trip, showing Shane adorable videos of kids while they were cuddling at night and 'joking' that he had baby fever, maybe asking to hang out with the Pike kids more often. There was even one night where Ilya adamantly insisted that he wanted to get Shane pregnant while they were having sex. It was so deadpan and unlike Ilya's typical dirty talk that Shane felt compelled to stop what they were doing just to confirm that Ilya knew how male biology worked.
So, yes, there were signs.
But Shane wasn't expecting it all to come to a head while the two of them were out to dinner with Scott and Kip.

Even if they must fight from the shadows whilst rarely leaving them, Big Hero 6 will continue protecting San Fransokyo. They know someone needs to help, and they don't plan to stop anytime soon.
