Before Project Deviant Hunter was even a concept, CyberLife’s Zoological Division had just begun expanding beyond androids of extinct and endangered animals. Their newest project, an initiative to supplement police and military forces with robotic canine service units.
But during the earliest days of project Hellhound’s inception, the deviancy crisis began to escalate, creating need for a hunter. When the similarities between the two nascent projects were realized, someone high up had the brilliant idea to combine the two for joint development and field testing. Thus when Connor is set upon the world it is with his K9 counterpart, Kyna, by his side.Alternatively:

RK800 has been disconnected from CyberLife’s servers but his memory did not automatically upload into another body. CyberLife marked this as a failure and decided to scrap the entire 800 series, choosing to deploy the RK900 for the deviant case instead.
After the revolution, Nines and Hank remain as partners in work as well as life and tackle an elusive red ice drug ring that’s been kidnapping androids to harvest their thirium. After months of careful planning and investigating, Hank and Nines close in on one of the drug dens but miss them by what could only be minutes. The two think there’s nothing of importance left behind but stumble upon a broken and beaten but still alive android who just so happens to be their missing RK800.

Hank was going to pop a blood vessel, he was fucking sure of it. The past week had been filled with that androids creepily human tone asking “may I ask you a personal question?”, and this last one pushed Hank over the fucking edge.
“For fucks-“ Hank sighs under his breath, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Fine, but only if I can ask one in return.” And Hank could’ve sworn Connor perked up slightly at his sudden interest in the android. It gave him the creeps, and for not the first time in the last hour Hank wished for a beer. Hank's curiosity gets the better of him, and he decides to try and push Connor to Deviancy. But he doesn't realise how unprepared Connor and he are for Connor's humanity, and it may lead to a closer bond than either expected.
