Pain exploded through Vee’s lower torso like fire. She had never felt anything this horrible. Her black hair with green streaks fell across her face as she wailed in pure rage.
“Stop this!” Vee cried out.
But the needle only pushed deeper. She shuddered and gasped as the thick liquid burned through her veins. When she forced herself to look down, horror hit her hard.
She wasn’t bleeding blood anymore.
She was bleeding ichor.
“You really think you can say those things and expect me not to respond?” Dandy’s voice slithered into her ear, making Vee want to slap him across his disgusting pale cheeks until he bled.
“Do you think you’re the most loved?” he whispered, lips brushing her skin as he finally yanked the needle out. Vee screamed in agony.
“No. You’re not, Vee. You’re just another pawn in my game… and I need to get rid of you.”
Her vision blurred as Dandy turned and walked toward the elevator, leaving her collapsed on the cold concrete. She tried to call out, but only a wet choke escaped — thick black ichor spilling from her lips. The last thing she saw before everything went dark was her girlfriend’s face.

Red shoved past Yellow to peek, and gasped.First she saw the tail. The fish tail attached to a human body, the scales, the fins. But then the claws and jagged edges, this was not a mermaid, but a siren. Long purple hair resting over a pale, scaled body. The tail a lighter shade of purple than the hair, the fins elegantly pointed, its tails movements torn between attempting to curl into itself and struggling in the net.
