Mistakes and choices were made in the past and future, and now there are Four Warriors of Light who could all easily take center stage and be the hero. However, one does appear to shine brighter than the others, perhaps that's whom the story is meant for?
Even then, having FOUR Warriors of Light can't be a bad thing, right? The established timeline won't change that much...

Summary
Continuation of the original Not Alone published in 2022. At first, it was a one shot, then a two shot. What started as a series of missing scenes evolved past the completion of the MW2 campaign revolving around Ghost and Soap and their developing bond.
In the original, Ghost Team learned to navigate their new dynamic while facing down adversaries, reuniting with allies, and spinning off into a story that meant to bridge the time between MW2 and MW3 that would still fit everything canonically. Now, the story continues with the aftermath of the events in Not Alone, merges with MW3, and will conclude with MW4 bringing everything together. Choices have consequences for Ghost Team as they deal with the fallout, resulting in a chain of events that questions what the call of duty even means.

“I think we need some rules for this year,” Shane admits. He knows it’s not fun or cool. It’s also the only way he’s going to be able to drive away from this ugly ass apartment and not have a panic attack.
“Like your rules for loading the dishwasher?” Ilya teases, his thumb rubbing a gentle circle on the apple of Shane’s cheek. “No, No you would want something more serious.”
Once Ilya told him he preferred to have hard conversations in person so that he could reach out and touch Shane. He said it was grounding and made him feel safe. Shane gets it. All of this is less scary when their knees are bumped together and Ilya’s hands are gently holding his head.
“More like some guardrails to make sure your first year in Ottawa is a success.” It’s a cop out. He wants rules to be sure that come next summer they are just like this with a few more memories thrown in for good measure.
Or: After a year of living in different countries Ilya has successfully been signed with the Ottawa Centaurs. Now both he and Shane have to learn to navigate what it's means when long distance doesn't involve plane rides and stolen nights while Ilya establishes roots in Shane's boring hometown.
