Reader doesn't complain that James is up before the sun most days, falling back into bed long after it's set. He works himself half to death to afford a roof over their heads and supper on the table, let alone the sweets he brings home or the new dresses he spoils her with when he can afford it. Though, she wishes he'd understand that she doesn't need that stuff; she'd trade every minute of overtime for an extra hour with her fella instead.
Especially with the draft threatening to take him away.Set in the 1940s during the war; a couple slice of life stories of domestic Bucky/Reader making it on a few dollars a month and not much more. Listening to the radio together, taking care of a worn down James Barnes, and smiling through some of the toughest years they've ever had to face. They got each other and that's a lot, right?
