The dog’s head tilted towards the side in a curious glance, and Eddie might’ve thought it was cute if he weren’t so terrified of dying right now.
A sharp whistle breaks Eddie from his thoughts.
“Chester, stand down,” an unfamiliar, gravely voice sounds. Eddie whips his head towards the sound of someone human talking to a demodog. Talking to it! And… naming it? What the fuck?

Except Mike is the only one who seems to notice. I guess there’s a first for everything.

Nancy lowered her body, sizing up the space ahead of them. She lowered her arm and reached for her gun. Lucas gripped his crowbar, wringing it over with his hands. Mike just stared, knife forgotten, shoved into the side of his belt.
The shadow moved slowly and hunched slightly forward.
That’s a fucking person.
“Will?” It was a quiet question, private almost, let out with an unsound breath. Mike tasted it like copper in his mouth as each letter sounded out past his gently parted lips.
That’s when Nancy shot. Heat and gunpowder soaked the air, followed by a shrill ringing sound that accompanied the loud bang.

Summary
After an encounter with a creature in the woods, November 2005 becomes November 1987. Vecna is still at large, Will is struggling with his connection to the hivemind, and Mike is trying to keep it together for the sake of his pack.
Matters are made infinitely worse when Will and Robin return to the Squawk with a pair of mysterious siblings who claim to be from the future, and for some reason they keep staring at Mike and Will.
This complicates everything.

Will didn't deserve this, not at all. He was supposed to be the Sun, warming people with his kindness and mercy, not lying in the damp, cold earth, feeding worms.
"Will... I hope you remember me on the other side, at least sometimes," Mike croaked, burying his face in his knees. "I hope you're happy and loved there, at least..."
To the deafening sound of rain, Mike closed his eyes. Something warm, almost weightless, enveloped his body, allowing him to relax. He took a deep breath, letting the damp air flow straight into his lungs and allowing the terrifying elements to lull him like their natural cradle.
As soon as Mike's eyes met the black slumber, somewhere in the back of his mind he heard rustling sounds coming from the forest, near Castle Byers.
