Summary
They did it. They killed Vecna. Now comes the rest of their lives.
Things start to slowly go back to normal for the Hawkins gang. Injuries start to heal and bodies recover from the pain that Venca left in his wake. Of course, not all the pain was physical. Steve constantly puts others first and would rather fix everyone else’s problems than deal with his own. While rewinding tapes at work, he finds himself counting down the minutes to get back home to where Eddie is recovering. Meanwhile, Eddie is having a hard time understanding why anyone, especially Steve, would care about him considering how much of a burden he is on everyone. He soon finds himself looking forward to when Steve comes home from work, listening for the sound of his car pulling into the driveway. After a couple of weeks, the boys fall into a comfortable rhythm, becoming a placeholder in each other’s lives. They soon realize that life is a lot better when you have someone to come home to.

Summary
He's going to lose control anytime soon. He knows himself enough, despises himself enough to know that he won't be able to refrain himself. So, really, what is he supposed to do? Delay the inevitable until he carelessly snaps? Isn't it better to do it while he's still sharp, focused, somewhat in control of his impulses?
In some ways, he's doing Harrington a favor.
