Timothy moans and doesn't straighten from the wall he's leaning his forehead against with his eyes closed.
They let him sleep recently, for a couple of hours a few days ago maybe, if Damian's malfunctioning internal clock can be at all trusted. They found out it was allowed when he passed out again and his shock collar didn't trigger.
That doesn't happen often. Damian is sure they only do it to keep Timothy alive. Damian once tried to teach himself to microsleep like Father can, and he read that the longest recorded time a person has gone without sleep is eighteen days and twenty-one hours.
Damian is positive they have been here longer. If not for those very brief brakes, Timothy’s body surely would have fully shut down by now.

Saw this prompt list for the month and decided it could help me work through behind the scene stuff in the sequel to my first novel I am writing. The first book was all about the male lead and female lead getting together and finding out where she came from. Now the second book is going over her assimilation into the greater universe while he has to track down the rest of her people. It is a soulmate and alien abduction story where the majority of the time the two leads are unable to communicate.

Bottom line, knowing that this house of healing is concealing sinister secrets, Stephen and America must find their friend and escape before they too are absorbed into this bizarre healing cult. Easier said than done, considering the before mentioned smothering Caretakers treating them like pets!
Matters only become more complicated when a familiar face from both Stephen's and America's past shows up.
