He dies, and Bruce takes all of his books and keeps them in his room and reads them obsessively. When Jason comes back to life and breaks into the manor as the Red Hood, he searches his bedroom at the manor for his books, and, not finding them, assumes Bruce just threw them out, because why would he need books scribbled in by a a dead boy he doesn't care about?
