Will lets the tears spill over and he lets that want that’s always itching under his skin show itself.
“My whole life I’ve missed you every second you’ve been away from me,” Will confesses quietly into the receiver.
If you’re pathetic, I’m wretched.

Not long after the final battle, Mike and Will were inseparable– until Will moved out to New York.
Despite the weekly calls and the freedom of living their lives without terror, there’s no world in which they could last so long apart without it feeling like torture.
Will gets a call, and three days later, Mike is at his doorstep.
It only takes a day for them to fall back together again.

Will stared down at him, heart doing somersaults.
“Uh,” Will said intelligently.
Mike made another sound - soft, almost dreamy - and nudged Will’s hand, encouraging, needy without even realising it.
Will’s brain short-circuited.

The first time Will runs his fingers through Mike’s hair, it’s an accident.
The second time… maybe not so much.
Before long, Mike is leaning into every touch, Will is desperately trying not to make it weird, and the Party is very, very done with them.

Another wolfecoded classic. I absolutely loved everyone in this, and how childhood memories were described. I loved how this fic explored a dynamic between Will and Steve.
There were many times when my eyes watered while reading this, and the detail of the new castle byers having a quilted blanket with a heart on it instead of the American flag… I just can’t :-: got me tearing up!

Highly underrated gem holy shit. This was a roller coaster ride of emotions. First I want to say that this fic had me fully immersed both in Will’s inner thoughts and the story itself. There were just so many parts within the story that I want to one day list or add commentary on because I loved it so much. This fic made me think of things that are most never explored in other ST fics like how the whole ST gang is perceived by the town and vice versa. To see Will be completely isolated from everyone that was once close to him, but being able to see the kindness and hope in Hawkins’ townspeople was just so pure and real. A huge thing that stood out to me was that once Will decided to LIVE and fight, he began learning the names of the townspeople. If we were introduced to the townspeople earlier, it would feel more like introducing OCs into a story. However, because the story started with Will only knowing certain people by the subtle, but meaningful interactions he had with them, it felt natural and more impactful that we learnt the names of them in chapter 2.
Other important aspects of the story that made it so meaningful to me were how each character was written, and how the Will’s illness impacted his thought processes. None of the ST characters were written to be bad or good, and each had their own struggle and nuance. While some may have been more inexcusable (in my opinion, saying this as if I were Allison lol), Will still understood and forgave them because of he knew he didn’t have much time left. Which goes back to how Will’s illness impacted his thoughts and outlook on Hawkins. I feel like if he was not in this situation, he wouldn’t have forgiven them then because he would’ve felt like he at least had his whole life ahead of him to get through this. But, I also think he wouldn’t have even talked to the townspeople of Hawkins either if he wasn’t ill as well. Similar to Max in season 4, knowing that he was going to die, Will had a certain determination to live, make an impact, and mend his relationships again.
This also resonated with me personally with the friend group dynamics and learning how to move on from group isolation. Feeling like you're being isolated, and actually seeing it happen internationally in real time is something a lot of teens face with their friend groups, and it’s truly a devastating feeling to experience. But finding others outside of that group and making new relationships feels like being able to see outside your old scope. It’s liberating, refreshing, but also doesn’t mean you’re replacing or not thinking about what you had before. You can still think about old friendships from time to time and love and mourn and hate what you had before.
Last, less serious side note. I liked how this story was able to balance out its emotional tone. It didn’t feel like one of those fics where it was about how sad and horrible Will feels, or how everyone around him hates him. Like… idk how to explain it. Those fics where Will is constantly the victim and all the people close to him who hurt him are seen as always in the wrong? Either way, I loved Will’s characterization in this. The words he said to Mike and their fight was downright cruel, but he clearly knew the right things to say to Mike even then.
To end this off, I fucking loved this so much holy shit. Such a memorable fic, and one that I will definitely go back to!

Will starts a habit of sleeping in Mike's room.
Without a word, Mike reaches out and lightly grabs Will's jaw. He tilts his head up, down, side to side, studying every angle. There's no way he can't feel Will's pulse beating fast and hard against his hand, but either way, he doesn't comment on it.
"Hmm", sneaks out of Mike's mouth.
"Hmm?", Will can only parrot back.
Now he studies Will's eyes, trying to commit their shape and hue to memory - trying to erase memories of Will's possessed dark, clouded eyes. His Will, but not.
Will softens in his grasp and opens himself to Mike's gaze, no longer trying to steel himself from the moment, hide himself away. Just present, just here.
And something in Mike softens, too.
"There you are," Mike whispers.
This is hungry work.

At home, Lan Wangji steels himself before taking off his shirt to investigate the problem on his arm. He isn’t sure which will be worse— to peel away his sleeve and find something horrific, or find nothing at all out of the ordinary.
Still, the only way to know is to take action, so he shoves his anxious uncertainty down into his golden core to burn away into nothing and unbuttons his shirt. Out come the cuff links, set gently back into their case. Finally, he tugs his arms out of their sleeves and, not yet looking at his arm, puts the shirt into its appropriate color-sorted laundry bin.
At last, he lets his gaze move to the back of his left forearm. His breath catches in his throat. The fingers of his right hand move, shaking just slightly, to skim at the half inch spot about halfway between his elbow and wrist.
Hard to the touch, there is a patch of cool white stone on his skin. More accurately, perhaps, there is a patch of his skin that has transmutated into, if he had to hazard a guess, white jade.

The Kira case wanes in 2004, and eventually goes cold. L departs from Japan, and five years go by. Until, one night in 2009, L tells Light that the Kira case is being reopened, and L wants to help acquit him before he is inevitably caught. But, like always, there is a catch that comes with L's favour, and now Light is stuck playing teacher in a house full of genius orphans while mending the rift that had blossomed between himself and L.
