It was easier to conceptualize this moment—Tabito’s back against the cold wall, his wet shirt sticking to his skin, the lump in his throat, Hiori and Isagi still in the pitch, still wrapped up in their celebrations probably—in those terms. It was after, but it was not the only after. After was Hiori’s beautiful assist as well, the moment he had gained the courage and the resilience to keep going, even after failure, that he would properly let go all of the expectations forced on him. After was Hiori and Karasu running together from that yankee, Hiori laughing like an angel with tears in his eyes. And after was the point of contact between him and Isagi, the palm pressed against the back of Isagi's throat, legs bracketing each other.

The Elder Crossing used to occur every 100 years but over time it became 10 and no one knows why. But now that it has become so frequent some Monsters have changed the path of their migration. In order to chart these new paths Hunter's Guild sends some of it's members into Fódlan. Tracking a Monster they end up saving some Knights of Seiros. They are brought to the Monastery to rest as thanks. Meeting Rhea they warn her of the impending threat. Rhea realizes that Fódlan didn't have the experience, training, and most importantly knowledge to deal with this invasion of nature. So to fix that they enlist the help of the Guild who send them a couple of Hunters to aid them and a Scholar to teach at the Officers Academy.
Enter Dracul Asterios, a Wyverian Hunter and something of a prodigy Scholar. Dracul is chosen to be the professor for the Monster Ecology/History & Hunter Basics courses. Little did they all know, that his teaching methods were....unusual.
