Summary
Regulus returns to Hogwarts after being sent to Beauxbatons Academy of Magic for a year. He is immieditaly tasked with infulterating the Order. He tries to navigate family and friendship in the midst of a war all while missing his life in France.
Opening:
Regulus arrived at his family home in the late evening. The lights were off and the door creaked as he opened it. Regulus walked in gracefully, behind him lumbered Alaric Jugson, burdened with two leather trunks that knocked against his knees at every step. He kept his head low, as though the very bricks of the Black townhouse might sneer at his presence, and said nothing while Regulus strode ahead without a backward glance. To the neighbors he would look like a servant, a porter hired for the journey, but inside the Black household, everyone knew better. Jugson wore the Dark Lord’s Mark, yet here he was, reduced to carrying luggage, his loyalty repaid with the indignity of silence and weight. Jugson trudged upstairs to put Regulus’ bags into his bedroom as Regulus walked into the drawing room, shrugging off his jacket and placing it on the arm of an armchair.

In one world, Severus forced himself to ignore her. Lily had seen through all his lies. She had made it clear that, no matter what history they shared, she didn't want a Death Eater for a friend, and he'd already taken the Dark Mark. But in this world, the beginnings of a desperate plan filled his mind.
Later that night, Lily found a parchment crumpled into her pocket. It contained information on a raid planned by the Death Eaters, and a shaky half-crown that she recognized at once.
Or: Severus decided to turn traitor long before the prophecy was ever spoken. He lost Lily anyway, but the rest of the war went off the rails.

Elyria Black is the youngest and only female child of Walburga and Orion Black. She's the younger sister of Sirius and Regulus Black, and the youngest child in the Black family.
She has issues, however.
She gets along with both her brother, despite Sirius being in Gryffindor, and despite her parents' disdain. She is also the bridge that completes them. Her brothers try their best to protect her from their parents in their house, but with Sirius leaving and Regulus being pushed to be the 'perfect heir', Elyria can't keep being protected.
Even with protection, she was never safe from her parents as a child. All of them have issues. Mental issues. They all have mental shutdowns that make them momentarily lose their sense of surroundings and cause them to do things they don't wish to. Elyria is tired. She wants to leave, and she knows Regulus does too.
This is a fanfic of Elryia's time at Hogwarts as a third-year Slytherin student, a year behind Regulus and two years behind Sirius. She's calculating like Regulus, a menace like Sirius. Book smart and street smart, a top student, a prankster, and a mini-Marauder.

Regulus Black comes from France. More specifically, a very old, very victorian house. More specifically than that, a house filled with stolen art and blueprints of every museum around the world. Raised in a family built on the money of stolen paintings, trained to steal them like his parents and grandparents had done, Regulus is likes his life. He always has something to do, even when Sirius is away at school.
However, when Sirius escapes on what should've been their final mission together, Regulus is left to pick up the pieces and flee to Seattle with the help of his friend, Barty. Everything goes fine, Regulus rebuilds a life far away from air and the possessive desire filch another painting.
He resists and resists and never steps foot in another gallery. It was going perfectly.
Then Sirius forces himself back into Regulus' life, gives him a way out of the honestly dreary life Regulus had coerced himself into enjoying. Another heist, which, if successful, would free all of them.
Or...
Regulus, having escaped to Seattle in a desperate attempt to free himself from the Black family, is roped into another heist. Fortunately, a certain James Potter makes the heist a little more bearable.

The first time Barty had met Regulus, he had gotten this wayworn feeling, which he usually associated with long hikes in cold mountains. He knew that this boy — he thought it was a boy — would one day go far, far away. He also felt, inexplicably, that he would as well, because of this boy.
He supposed there had also been a momentary slip of fear that washed itself over his tongue, though he mistook it for the usual iron that plagued his taste.
