Summary
Archdevil Mephistopheles, the esteemed Lord of the Eighth, the greatest spellcaster in all the realms, hated having his work in the Hells interrupted. Mephistopheles received a warning that the plot to bring forth the Grand Design championed by the Dead Three would be a complete and utter disaster that could damage the Material Plane, the heavens, and all Nine Hells. Mephistopheles and the other Lords of the Nine had been tasked with preventing such an apocalyptic outcome by intervening on the Material Plane by aiding a group of adventurers with curing their tadpole infections and stopping the coming catastrophe. Unfortunately, that meant that Archdevil Mephistopheles was spending his time babysitting a gaggle of foolish mortals on the Material Plane and preventing them at every turn from doing something immensely stupid. Mephistopheles’s existence was now being spent as a caretaker for mortals and mired in Hellish bureaucracy with no end in sight.
It’s going to take an incredible amount of patience and ingenuity for Mephistopheles to aid the adventurers in their quest to defeat the Elderbrain while stopping the mortals and his devil colleagues from fucking everything up.

"muse" is an exploration of the obsession with the teen, that strange intermediate between child and adult, through a collection of stories about the teen (sixteen to nineteen years old) as artistic muse in the perverse eyes of adults. The inherently charged and intense artist/muse relationship serves as the context through which the mindsets and rationales of the adults in these stories are understood.
