The weather in Canada was nice for once, the roads were piled in snow and nobody was huddled near the fireplace covered in blankets to shield themselves from the wind blowing into their home. It was warm and sunny, the sun just barely peeking out from the clouds above but still lighting up the entire sky. It was just past 11am in the small town and, although many people were outside enjoying the warm weather, most people were at the pool enjoying the summer time or some unfortunate ones were off at work.
All the community pools, parks, and trails were open around the city, so Ilya had made a plan for him and his husband once he began to notice Shane sitting in the corner of the living room almost every day, not even playing with anything or doing anything- just watching outside while bored out of his mind.

Team management e-mails him early in the afternoon, but it’s just after helping Jackie feed Ruby and Jade dinner, when Hayden has the chance to go to the bedroom and sit against the bed headboard, that he manages to see and read it. The language is polite but friendly, and the person writing it actually identifies herself as the lady from the team’s media relationship, Nathaly, which immediately makes the exchange feel more real.
