Izuku has plans for everything.
He plans out what to say to the cashier when ordering coffee, he plans out his homework before even opening his textbook. He has a whole ten-year plan for how he’s going to get into UA’s hero course and get his hero license fully quirkless. He plans for every wild, unlikely scenario he can think of because his anxiety gets so bad if he doesn’t go through every possible outcome, every way his life could landslide into disaster–– but Izuku never planned for this.
For once, he doesn’t have a plan and he doesn’t have time to think of one. All he can see is Yagi-san’s lined, kind face looking resigned as he stares down the villain in his shop. Yagi-san, who is the closest thing to a father figure Izuku has ever had.
Izuku doesn’t think. He just moves.
(Or: Izuku saves the number one hero, gets a hero license way earlier than anyone wanted, realizes that maybe hero society isn’t as great as he thought it was, and everything just kind of falls apart from there.)

Izuku Midoriya is unlucky, to say the least and life hasn't exactly been kind. Things weren't so bad in the beginning, but once he was diagnosed quirkless, well, it all went to shit. Everyone grew to hate him, even his best friend and own father.
Was it really that impossible to become a hero without a quirk? It doesn't really matter because to Izuku, the term hero is flexible. He'll be his own hero because he's learnt from his own experience, people are selfish and the only one he can rely on is himself.
Left alone to fend for himself in the world, Izuku goes out to change things on his own terms, despite his methods being slightly illegal. Keyword, slightly. It's only illegal if he gets caught, right?

The human brain, a complicated organ powered by tiny pulses of electricity could beat any idiot with a couple firecrackers popping between their fingers.
When villains, with lightning bolts at their fingertips, could be bested by a hero whose only power was to manipulate fabric, it became increasingly obvious that power lies in how you used your mind.
Unfortunately for Izuku, he challenged the one person- man? Animal? Creature? Creature.- that’s power increased their mind.
But, maybe, just maybe, he could win this wager.

Faking telekinesis would be too hard to achieve, and while there’s a potential in trying to recreate a magnetism quirk similar to his mother, Izuku is more drawn to the idea of breathing fire. It’s a classic magic trick from before the time of quirks, isn’t it? It’s also dangerous, but being a hero is going to be dangerous, so Izuku (perhaps mistakenly) figures that it shouldn’t be much of a deterrent.
