She had a surplus of mothers and a shortage of any who could answer her.
Jake Sully carried his family to the edge of the world. A flag was there waiting for them. Neytiri learned that word at school, back when she was a girl with a sister. The cloth the Sky People put up over a place to tell each other the taking had already happened.
Cora Delaney knew Earth had ten billion people and one generation left to save them. That was why she signed. She did not know the rest. When the RDA returned to Pandora for its ore and its immortality oil, twelve people landed on a far shore and started being kind. They always tell the truth because the truth is the thing Sky People reach for when they have run out of better lies.

Summary

Spider was sent back to High Camp after almost dying in his sleep. He took the journey alone going with the Wind Traders. Jake asked Norm to let him know when Spider arrived. The Tlalim clan made it, but Spider wasn’t with them. Jake learned their caravan had been attacked by Mangkwan raiders and one of the gondolas was shot down - the one Spider was on. There was a search, but no survivors were found. Spider was dead. The Sully children were devastated. They had lost another brother. Spider’s death also fractured and broke the family beyond repair.
Four years later: Pain was the only thing holding the Sullys together as they go on barely living. Kiri, Lo'ak, and Tuk forged their own paths. Jake and Neytiri knew better than to stop them.
Then word gets back to the family that Spider is alive! After four years of believing he was dead! Everyone is excited to welcome him back home… until they're faced with an unexpected realization, he isn’t the Spider they knew. He’s breathing Eywa’eveng’s air and has a kuru! He’s angry... and he's part of the Mangkwan clan. The Sullys don’t understand what’s happened to him, because standing in the place of the person they once knew is a stranger who hates them.

His hair fell out of its characteristic bun. Curls tumbled in lush strands upon his shoulders, soaked through with the water’s depths. His eyes, painted teal, mixed in with the sunlight’s rays to catch the reflection of the lapping waves, which doused the sand within its froth. The sun’s gleam caught within his pupil, illuminated all the more by the toothy grin that spilled aimlessly across his face. A man, framed by nature’s brushstrokes herself.
“Neteyam, your family would be so happy to see you. I’m so happy to-”
Ao’nung’s graceless smile faltered then. His teal eyes widened as he took Neteyam's sight in his entirety.
“Neteyam. Your kuru-”

After the events of the Three Brothers Rocks, Neteyam is saved by Varang and is awoken in the Mangkwan clan, yet he is resigned to a fate worse than death. The sky people have cut off his kuru and shot a bullet through his chest. They have taken everything from him, and Neteyam will stop at nothing until they feel the exact pain and misery that courses through him.
However, oceans away, Ao’nung cannot stop lingering on the supposedly deceased Omatikaya forest boy who arrived at Awa’atlu a few months ago.

In this extreme Alternate Universe take, the RDA discovers the Backrooms which permits them to reach Pandora (and maybe other worlds?). People move back and forth between worlds; the Backrooms generate 'avatar' bodies for them which they inhabit permanently until the next time they pass through.
The story starts many years after the RDA was kicked out of Pandora by the Toruk Makto (the 1990s). The RDA is itching to return, however. Jake and Neytiri are living on Earth as human avatars. Spider lives with the Sullys more or less and is dating Neteyam. Meanwhile, the mangkwans, lead by Varang, are looking for Spider....
