Summary
Marcus Tilman followed the red line because someone wanted him to. Nick Valentine followed it because someone else was watching them do it. The Railroad doesn’t recruit with riddles. It recruits by deciding whether you should be alive by the end of the day. But in the end, everything is about the choices you make…including who you keep choosing over and over again.

Summary
Deacon finally meets his match, and then some.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"...I’m also a fan of ‘That’s a nice outfit. It would look better on my floor.’”
He snorted, “Has that ever actually worked for anyone in the history of time and space?”
She smiled at him with a cheeky sort of charm, “I dunno, honey. Why don’t you try it and we’ll see?”
Deacon about choked on his beer and she giggled at him while sipping her drink. He shook his head and was surprised to find he didn’t have to fake the disappointment in his voice, “Can’t. Don’t have my own floor.”
Nora shrugged at that. “Well, in that case…”, her eyes moved over him slowly. It made him feel like a nervous kid. “That’s an awfully sexy outfit you’re wearing, Andy. I bet it would look better on my floor.”
Bad idea. Bad idea. Bad idea. “Oh yeah? Where’s this floor at?” Like he didn’t already know.
She smiled, took his hand and stood. “I’ll show you.”
(Note: This is my magnum opus revenge story for Bethesda not allowing anyone to romance this sad egg. Buckle up, kids, stuff's about to get dark and dirty.)
Summary
“Sorry to rush out so soon, Dez.” Deacon’s body seemed to move on its own, resting back against her table as he inexplicably kept speaking. “It’s just, I’ve been staying at this new place right? And they have power. I mean it, working lights and appliances, only a flat rate, 100 caps a month. The problem is we’re wasters used to dark, damp catacombs and I just can’t for the life of me remember if I left the oven on. That would be fine on its own, I mean, I’m a responsible American citizen, I have insurance.” Deacon couldn’t tell if she was paying any attention. He’d lean towards ‘no’. “But… I left my new tabby kitten home alone. I know, I know, not the most responsible move. But parenthood is hard, you know? I just need a break sometimes… Either way I’ve worried myself sick. Filled that nice ceramic vase we keep in the corner to the brim with vom—”
“Hurry it up,” Dez said. So she was listening.
Summary
Red entered the Commonwealth with one goal in mind: keep heading north. He's not there to take in the sights, make friends, or fall in love. He's certainly not there to get embroiled in a resistance movement run by a group of misfits against an evil organisation he's never even heard of.
Unfortunately fate doesn't seem to care much about what Red wants.
Summary
When Deacon finds a woman frozen inside the vault he was strictly prohibited from entering, she becomes something of a pet project of his. As is his job, he gathers intel on this mysterious vault-dweller… and quickly finds that he is completely wrong about her. She is kind, generous, sharp, and haunted by ghosts she prays will never find her.
Maybe the two of them aren’t so different.
Their new partnership brings growing pains for both of them, but Charmer soon settles comfortably into her new position in the Railroad. Deacon, on the other hand, can’t seem to shake the feeling that she’s dangerous. To the Commonwealth? To the Railroad? To the comfortable loneliness Deacon has carefully curated for himself by building walls and keeping strict boundaries under the guise of snarky one-liners and constant lies, just so he can ensure the safety of the people he loves?
Who’s to say.
Summary
She rounded the final corner into the courtyard, and there he was: a blue jacket folded over the edge of the statue, a familiar newsboy cap atop it, its seam busted at the bill. Below, propped against the marble pedestal, lay Drummer Boy. One hand pressed to Dogmeat’s back, the other clamped against his shoulder where the collarbone met the joint. Red seeped, vivid against pale skin, between his fingers.
“Shit,” Norah breathed, closing the distance. Her knees hit the flagstones with a crack as she knelt, pressing her hands over his own as if she could force the blood back inside him. “Drummer… it’s alright.”
“Ha-ah that’s… not the term I’d use,” he rasped, attempting a quivering smile, eyes darting toward the rooftops and broken windows behind her. His skin was three shades paler than normal, the shadows under his eyes deepened into hollows.
“I handled it,” she said, brushing the fringe from his forehead. “He’s gone, Drummer. I handled it.” She repeated it when his gaze finally met hers, a tether to reality.
Confusion clouded the gray of his eyes for a heartbeat before he nodded shakily. “I thought I heard two shots.”Series
Summary
Deacon was not a man who handled rejection well. He anticipated resistance but did not expect a philosophical treatise on the continuation of the human species while watching the Sole Survivor of Vault 111 make out with the Mayor of Goodneighbor. He hasn’t had to work this hard on a mark in a long time, and he’s certainly never walked away from one questioning the things that have kept him going for two decades.
Dove is not as "human" as many other synths. Thankfully, Drummer Boy has never seemed to mind.
Just kinda wrote this as dialogue practice. Silly fluff with some headcanons for Drummer sprinkled in. :P
