It’s quiet for a moment, and then the omega asks, “Your name is Felix?”
Felix freezes. He hasn’t given someone his real name in years, and he’s a little shocked it just slipped out. He lets out a breath, hesitates for a split second, and then very deliberately does not take it back.
Instead, he lets his head roll to his left and opens his eyes to look at the person next to him. The omega has uncurled from his tight ball of terror and is looking back at Felix with pretty chocolate brown eyes. He’s about Felix’s age, he can tell, and he’s honestly very cute. “Hi,” Felix says. “Nice to meet you.”
The omega takes in a shaky breath. “I’m Jeongin,” he offers, and bursts into tears.

Felix finished cleaning the bathroom and went to return the handful of cleaning supplies when he stopped in the living room doorway and stared. His heart skipped a beat in his chest, his breath caught in his throat and everything inside him began to hum and spin to a new frequency … sweat building on his temples and his stomach filling instantly with butterflies.
Chan was dancing slowly, in his sweatpants and tee shirt, a baby on each arm, his eyes closed, and singing quietly. His hips moved carefully to the beat of the music drifting out from his laptop on the coffee table, very carefully … aware of how precious their cargo was. His black hat sat low on his head, almost covering his eyes, but a few of his curls peaked out of the edges. He swayed gently and sang lullabies as the girls slowly fell asleep, their little eyes blinking slowly before falling shut, their little mouths stretching wide for one last yawn before sighing and snuggling into their father’s chest as he rocked them back and forth and in slow circles.

Summary
Minho was miserable, and Chan knew that. But, he didn’t talk and didn’t give the appearance of someone who would want to talk, so Chan never brought it up. Minho showed up to work every day and did well, smiling bleakly at the other boys’ jokes and teasing, and doing exceptionally well at his job. Chan had no idea what the boy’s life was like outside of work, and he had no right to even wonder about it.
But … Minho often locked eyes with Chan across the restaurant and the world could be burning around them, but there were libraries of words in Minho’s eyes and Chan was starving for them. It felt like Minho was dying to communicate but never actually taking that step … always looking away first or managing to move away quicker so they never bumped into one another. It left Chan feeling empty, panicked … a stranger feeling he’d never felt.
What the hell was going on with him?

He paced the corner of the small studio gym, gaining strange looks from the other people there. He didn’t care; he couldn’t see them anyway.
“Is he … is he b-breathing?”
Chan stopped. “Seungmin. What is this about?”
He heard Seugming stifle a wretched sob. “Why aren’t you answering me?”
Shaking his head, Chan softened his voice, doing what he could to calm the boy nearly eight hundred miles away. “Of course, he’s breathing, baby … I’m watching him right now.” Tears burned his eyes painfully as he guiltlessly lied. “He’s so cute, his chest is going up … and down … inhale … and exhale …”
