Stan darted over to Ford’s desk, leaping up onto it and crouching down for the next leap onto a tall bookshelf. It towered up almost to the ceiling and had deep shelves full of Ford’s books and knickknacks. Which meant the top was big enough for him to be completely hidden from prying tween eyes. He could hear the pair of them whispering now, although he couldn’t make out any words. With one last concentrating wiggle, he leapt to the top of the bookshelf-
-and nearly yowled when he found himself nose to nose with something fuzzy and green, its large human-like eyes widening and focusing on him.
