They were there.
Bernard didn’t know how they’d gotten there, how they’d snuck up on him and Jason—Jason? Where had Jason gone?
Didn’t matter.
Not when there were chaos monsters standing in front of him, expressions hidden behind masks, except for their burning, vicious eyes, promising suffering.
OR: Scarecrow escapes from Arkham. Bernard, Tim, and Jason deal with the fallout.
Basically my take on those Tim and Jason fear toxin fics, but with Bernard thrown in there as well. It's in the same universe as my other fic, "Liminal Spaces" and takes place shortly after that, but you can probably read it as a standalone. You'll just be missing some context.

Summary
They’d been dating for over a year and Bernard still hadn’t met Tim’s family. Bernard knew that Tim was an anxious, paranoid mess, and that he was just trying to keep things under control, but still. Not knowing Tim’s family made their whole thing feel less. . .permanent. Easier for Tim to end when he got scared. Easier for Tim to leave Bernard alone. Again.
But Bernard was determined to make this work, because this past year had been the best year of his life and that was in large part due to Tim. So he’d done what normal, healthy people did in relationships and communicated his concerns to his boyfriend.
And Tim had proven, once again, that he actually listened to Bernard.
Or, Bernard bonding with the Batkids while also dealing with his trauma from his parents and from the cult. And maybe finding a family along the way.

Liminal Spaces (complete): Bernard bonding with the Batkids while also dealing with his trauma from his parents and from the cult. And maybe finding a family along the way; ~45,000 words; meant to be read first and works as a standalone.Liminal Fears (posting now!): Scarecrow escapes from Arkham. Bernard, Tim, and Jason deal with the fallout. Basically my take on those Tim and Jason fear toxin fics, but with Bernard thrown in there as well; ~15,000 words; set in between Spaces and Times; plot-wise sort of a prequel to Times but can probably be read without reading either of the other fics.
Liminal Times (currently writing): Dual timeline fic with Bernard's time in the cult in the past and him dealing with Tim going missing in the present; long-fic, aiming for around 100,000-200,000 words but that's subject to change; the climax/main fic of this series, meant to be read after Spaces and Fears.

Summary
Reconciliation is a process that takes time. Sometimes not quite as much time as you'd think.
There's an emotional throughline of developing character dynamics over the course of the series, but I've written the vast majority of the stories to be self-contained plot-wise. There's no required reading order if you want to jump around to ones that catch your interest, though I do recommend starting with Displacement itself for background.
