Ashley Ketchum’s alarm clock blared like a wild Jigglypuff concert gone wrong. She groaned and slapped at it blindly, missing twice before finally smacking it silent with a loud clunk. The sunlight was merciless, creeping in through the gap in her curtains and landing right across her face. "Ugh, Sun! Take a hint," she mumbled, yanking her blanket over her head. For a split second, she entertained the brilliant idea of using Dig to escape deeper under the covers. Her toes wiggled as if prepping for action, but her brain kicked in a moment later.
Today wasn’t just any day—it was the day.
Her eyes shot open like a Staryu’s gem, and she bolted upright in bed, her blanket flying off her like a Togekiss taking off. “Today’s my first day as a trainer!” she squealed, practically vibrating with excitement. She threw her legs over the side of her bed and stood up so fast she almost tripped on her Pikachu-patterned pajama pants.

I hope you will forgive the liberty of this letter. I wished to tell you, how much I owe you. Do you recall that afternoon in the gardens, some months past? You were waiting for my sister, the late sun caught in your hair. I remember thinking you looked otherworldly.
I sketched you then. I did not intend to; my hand acted before I considered the impropriety. I continued to do so on other days, from other angles, always unseen—until you noticed. I expected embarrassment, perhaps reproach. Instead, you regarded the drawing as something of value. You said it was beautiful, and encouraged me to pursue what moved me.
No one had spoken to me in such a manner before. My family indulges my drawing as a harmless pastime. You were the first to suggest it might be more. That it might be mine. It was shortly after that I resolved to apply to the Royal Academy of Arts, having concluded my studies at Eton. I do not presume greatness, but I am choosing my own path.

In "Rhaenyra The Golden" I promised only one-shots and a break from this fandom, but I am a dirty liar. I swear this happens every single time I start writing House of the Dragon fic.
I sit down with one clear idea in mind, fully convinced I know where the story is going, and somehow I end up with two. The same thing happened with "The Rogue Prince Come Again" and "HIMYF – Targaryen Edition", so at this point I really should know better than to fight it.
So far, we’ve wandered through Dorne, Driftmark, the Stepstones, the North, and even Yi Ti. And now—whether I like it or not—we’re heading into my least favorite region of all: the Riverlands. I have complaints. Many of them. But the story demanded it, and I’ve learned that arguing rarely works.
This fic is me unapologetically playing cupid, rearranging pieces, and indulging a little too hard in character dynamics. Somewhere along the way, I also circled right back to my Sims tendencies, because apparently I cannot help myself when it comes to orchestrating the chaos that is Westeros.
As always, thank you for reading, and for sticking with me as this series continues to grow sideways instead of straight ahead.

After finishing at the Fire Academy, Buck’s stopped on his way out by Captain Bobby Nash from the 118 — the most talked-about station in LA. Nash offers him a spot as their new probie, impressed by his background as a dispatcher and his record-breaking run through training.
But Buck turns him down. He knows what went down under the last captain, Gerard, and he’s not about to walk into a place still recovering from that kind of mess. He tells Nash the team needs time, trust, and probably therapy before anyone new shows up. When Nash flinches at the word “therapy,” Buck figures he made the right call.
