Summary
When news of Conner Kent’s death reaches Earth during Season 4 of Young Justice, we only catch glimpses of how the original Team reacts. This story explores the moments we never got to see. Like Kaldur carrying the burden of informing his oldest friends, Dick confronting the loss of yet another brother, Artemis and Zatanna reflecting on the people they’ve already lost, and the entire Season 1 Team struggling to process the death of someone who helped shape them into heroes.
Set in the immediate aftermath of Conner’s apparent death on Mars during S4, this is a look at grief, friendship, and the complicated bonds that still tie the original Team together after all these years, with some appearances by League members and Outsiders too.

"Junior," the kid scoffed, which was real fucking rich for someone who was an inch or two from being strictly categorized as fun-sized. "Fuck off."

"I can multiply just fine, jackass."
"Hood," Tim cut in, voice squeaky like it'd been squeezed-compressed-squashed ten times over. "I don't need to keep looking for Dick. He's right there."

Determined to do what he must, he goes deep undercover as a world- renowned con man, to root out corruption and deceit embedded deep in the country's judicial system. Dick just has to survive being stripped of everything that he is, being removed from everyone he loves, and an actual prison sentence. Even if everything went as planned, this was a bad idea. When everything eventually takes a turn, Dick has to adapt to see this through in the end. Because of course, the mission comes first.

Plus, it didn’t help that it was deemed a “simple mugging gone wrong” and that he was a boy of privilege that was gifted a rich life and a live-in butler with a safe house. So no, despite material witnesses not having a batch of good luck in Gotham, Bruce Wayne was one of the fortunate ones.

Who knew what this man was involved in: it could be mob-related. In this town, it was a sure bet. And his name supposedly started with a Z, at least from what Gordon nearly let slip. He'd have to check his databases...
