Summary
Michael Wheeler had a nasty tendency of hiding things in neat, tiny, dismissable boxes, the swallowing the key and shitting off a volcano, "just in case". He's been doing it since 1983. That is a lot of shits into volcanoes.
The year is 1995. Mike is trying to survive as a writer, using the pen name Sam Hill. He'd released a book about WW2, and it had hit the charts like a hammer, for good reason. However, Sam Hill had writers block.
He's been drinking. Staring out windows, seeing faces in clouds. Will's face.
Dustin Henderson landed it at NASA, and his team undug some revelations on Pluto. Something about the craters. So, he decided to celebrate, seeing it as a wonderful time to get the gang together. Everyone is coming. Everyone has to share a room. And Will and Mike have to share one.
William Byers is not ok. Gods, no.
He'd tried to move on. Tried forgetting Mike. Tried a new relationship, and the guy had been a shit.
Will illustrated books, drew newspaper comics, and tried to keep his shit together. But Dustin's get together may be the end of him. He doesn't want anyone to worry about him, and he was put in the same room as the perceptive Michael Wheeler.
They were dead men. -

“I can explain.” The woman wearing El’s face chimed in softly, bringing their attention back to her.
El stepped up towards her, eyebrows furrowed. “…Are you me?”

“Holy shit.” Dustin breathed.
The girl their age scowled. “Where are we!? Who are you people!? What the hell is this!?”
“I’ll explain everything.” Jane started. “Don’t worry, you’re safe. This place is… nothing here can hurt you.”
Lucas frowned. “Wait, where exactly is this?”
“This is going to take a bit to explain, but…” Jane let out a deep breath. “I’m from the future.”
They all stared at her in pure silence.
“I think I just threw up in my mouth.” Dustin whispered.
OR: When Jane's suicide plan goes awry, she finds herself with an oppertunity to go back in time and warn her precious people of the evils to come.

Summary
This is during the time skip between season 4 and 5. Will Byers and Jonathan Byers are living with the Wheelers. The sky is dark and looms over top of Hawkins, the town itself seems to have the life slowly being drained from it, the life force itself being sucked into the menacing, angry rifts that split Hawkins in four. Everybody is a mess, however Will Byers finds himself having the worst time of his life. His mental health has been on a steady decline since he got back from the upside down. He’s scared of the Upside Down, he’s scared of Vecna, he’s scared of the unknown and worst of all, he’s so very of himself, and his dark thoughts that make him want to just disappear.

After an even changes the course of his entire existence Eddie finds trusting anyone (including himself) one of the hardest things he ever had to relearn. He found himself alone in a new environment. That was until the man that tormented him because he was different changes his perspective learning just what happened the summer before they both entered college.
The party reunites after realizing they all ended up at the same college. Eddie hadn't seen any of them besides Mike and Will. He is embarrassed of how broken he had become since seeing his former best friends.

Mike presence settled over him like sunlight, warm and quiet. He was close enough that Will could feel the soft brush of his hair against the back of his neck. The scent of him, an expensive soap that made Wills chest tighten.
"You really captured it." Mike murmured, voice low, almost a breath against the nape of Wills neck. "You captured me…"
Wills hand froze, pencil inches from the canvas. "I try," he whispered. "I've always noticed you for…you."
Mike leaned closer, shoulders brushing Wills in a casual, intimate way, not touching more than necessary but close enough to make the air between them electric.
"You see me." Mike said, softer this time, carrying a warmth in his voice.
Wills heart hammered in his chest. "I do." He said, voice firmer now, though it trembled. "I always have."
Mike stayed there, just behind him, the quiet of the room folding around them. The intimacy wasn't forced, it was the slow gravity of years spent knowing someone, admiring them close but safe, finally allowed to exist in the same space, breathing together.

“Thanks Laura. Now we’re here on the site of Bachelor’s Grove cemetery, where an abandoned monument was struck by lightning last night.”
Will froze. He walked towards the TV to get a closer look, and sure enough. It was his gravestone. Well, not his but his favorite. He then remembered the name engraved on the now destroyed headstone. Micheal Wheeler. Poor thing. There was no doubt Will was the only one mourning the loss. Most people wouldn’t even step into Bachelor’s Grove, most deeming it “haunted”.
How childish, Will thought. Maybe it was morbid, but not to Will. He was simply paying respects to someone who was seemingly forgotten. He thought it was poetic. To remember those who had no one left to remember them.
