It's kind of hilarious and tooth-rottingly sweet that the rookies are all so anxious over meeting Roz's girl. Or, wait, should it be his boy? Fuck, his Jane? Shit, Cliff doesn't fucking know. He probably should, though, but that's something to think about another day. He'll just stick with Roz's Jane for now—makes it easier for everyone, probably. Jane's been haunting Boston for for-fucking-ever, which, shit—he's definitely curious about how long their whole thing has been going on.
He glances over his shoulder, catching sight of Breezy's tense mouth, their nerves apparent as Los knocks his shoulder into Ovi's; all three are muttering together, clearly anxious for tonight to go well.
Still, how they're standing itches at him. There’s something… off about the rookies.
OR: Boston welcomes Montreal on their home turf. Movie night beckons in the aftermath. The rookies' questions aren't the only wheel of fortune that's turning.

J.J.’s eyes settled across the parking lot, where Shane had hung up the phone but was still crouched, his silhouette dark, head down, hands at the back of his neck. Fatigued, trying to make himself smaller, hide how exposed he clearly felt. Because he and Roz were a thing. Not a one way thing but an actual… thing. Shit.
J.J. hated Florida. The humidity fucked up his skin, and they had those giant snakes that weren’t even supposed to be there but some idiot Florida men had set them free and the swamps there were so fucked that they thrived. J.J. set his jaw, determined, before he responded. “Tell Jackie to get three tickets.” He reached into his bag and confirmed his passport was there. “It will be harder for Coach to punish all of his captains. I’m going with you.”
He nodded his head definitively.

Life feels so chaotic for Shane sometimes, with all the loud noises and the unwritten rules he’s expected to follow, even though no one ever taught them to him. It’s why the bookstore feels more like home to him than anywhere else in Boston. It doesn’t ask Shane to be anything other than himself. Doesn’t ask for any more than he can give.
He can just exist here.
Shane likes slow, likes taking his time. And Ilya - without saying or doing anything in particular - makes Shane feel like that’s okay. Like he isn’t doing anything wrong by standing still sometimes.
