    Sokka takes a strategic step back, but he also smiles: triumphant, like he baited Zuko into exactly what he wanted. Like it’s a challenge. It’s the same way he looked when they sized each other up at the prison, with Sokka in chains that left red marks around his wrist, in tattered prison garb, malnourished and angry. Back then, that was Sokka saying: I see your power. I see you. Now, see me.

    Zuko saw him then. And he sees him now; different, but the same. I see you.

    Zuko lights his daos in flame. Sokka grins, back to gravel and heat. “Come on, Fire Lord. Impress me.”

    Zuko burns. His vision flickers with fire. His heart races. His blood sings. His body is like a magnet, pulling ever onward to meet Sokka’s. He advances.

    He pins Sokka to the wall, blades against his throat.

    Or, Zuko found Aang first, Sokka and Katara were imprisoned in Boiling Rock for trying to rescue their dad, and all Sokka knows is he's pretty sure he's not supposed to think the Fire Lord is attractive but he's never let things like rules stop him before.

    Shoes was helping herself to the parts of a motorcycle that was way too nice to be left unattended at night in this part of town. It was sure to be a decent pay out, until she heard the stupid robot voice call out from behind her, “You know, this is like some fucked-up, backwards deja vu for me.”

    She tensed for a moment but didn’t bother turning to see the Red Hood there. At some point after the big bad crime boss started giving her tips on how to get away with stealing or offering her his fucking jacket in the cold, he started to lose his edge of intimidation. Instead she focused on removing the back tire of the bike and saying, “This is just some routine maintenance.”

    Bernard pops the top off his water bottle, a roll of his wrist at the perfect angle and it comes right off, and pops the faucet in Tim’s very nice kitchen to cold. Tim presses a kiss to the back of Bernard’s neck before Tim moves to the fridge to get his own water.

    Bernard used to not drink as much water, but Tim drinks enough water for three people a day so Bernard naturally has followed- and now Bernard has no acne so he’s sort of mad about it actually. “The main character has two hands.” Bernard chimes easy and teasing. “Polygamy is the awnser here babe.”

    Tim peaks over the door of the fridge. “Oh? Is this you telling me something?”

    Tim Drake, Bernard Dowd, and Kon-El have two hands each. They use them to hold onto each other.

    She thought there might be all kinds of things she would like about Tim, if only he would take a chill pill and let her find them. For months, Martha had patiently listened to Conner’s pining, then his gushing when the two boys finally got together. She’d been vaguely aware of the boy's presence in her house now and again when Conner shuttled him back and forth from Gotham. But other than a very polite introduction and a few passing hellos, Tim had mostly managed to evade her attempts to assimilate him into the family. He was skittish. And sneaky. More than once, Martha had wondered if he didn’t possess some kind of special ability like her son, invisibility or teleportation or something ridiculous like that. The matter wasn’t helped by Conner’s tendency to squirrel the boy away for his own private enjoyment.
