Neil Josten didn't try to be famous, he couldn't be. At fourteen when his mother had just died he coped with the only thing that he could, Exy. He broke in an exy court and started shooting balls, one after one, unaware of Coach Hernandez watching him. He had ended up in the team a few days later completely oblivious to the shadows that were about to lurk him down.
One day Coach Hernandez started recording, a crappy video that somehow ended up in an exy forum and all over the internet soon after. In just one night Neil Josten was famous. -

Summary
At the end of their collegiate careers, all Exy players skilled enough to be drafted must first pass the Exy Trials to claim the limited spots on the US Court. With permission to kill each other on the court and off it, a bloodbath ensues every year, and both Kevin and Jean are willing to do whatever it takes to survive.
Kevin must endure a broken hand and an underdog team, while Jean has Riko at his back and the Raven regime suffocating his every move. They both navigate their unresolved tension from years spent together in the Nest, as well as the growing feelings between them during the Trials.

The ERC has demanded that the Foxes recruit more players for this season, as it is apparently unacceptable for them to continue playing at a minimum capacity (something about the risk of injury to players from overexerting themselves). This prompted Wymack and Kevin to continue looking for candidates, eventually selecting a certain Neil Josten as their backup striker and two other unknowns.
The meeting with the new player does not go exactly as expected, but in the end they do get a player. We can only hope that the Foxes can deal with the new predator in their midst.

nathaniel wesninski was the first child to play exy alongside riko moriyama — but he was never riko’s partner in the way that kevin would become years later. There is no amusement in his eyes when he scrawls a 0 on the other boy’s cheek; it’s done with a whispered declaration of, “you are nothing.”
zero, number 0, has no last name nor partner, or role on the court. he stands stoic and still through riko’s daily violence, he slips into whatever position is demanded on him and pretends not to hear the other ravens whispering that he is nothing.
neil josten debuts as the edgar allan raven’s 00, a number found on no other exy team and with a talent unmatched by any other ncaa player. his stats sheet claims that he can play as any position and he can, he remains on the court for the entirety of the game and plays like he’s a ghost, dancing around the edge of his opponent’s visions.

once again I’m titling the work after another Indigo de Souza song because I feel like it fits really well? One of my fav lyrics from that song as well is “A little whiskey and some reckless boys” which I almost named it but it just didn’t quite feel right.

Andrew’s wary to move on after such a disasterous senior year of high school, but somehow, he has some hope left. Somewhere deep down, anyway, where he can barely see it in the dark, but it is there.
Andrew’s not-like-other-girls complex is burning strong this year, but he’ll figure out eventually that he is in fact, like the other girls, and that’s not a bad thing. It’s just a thing. Maybe even a good thing. Maybe he’ll meet some people, maybe he’ll have some flings. Maybe he’ll let go of his self doubt for a moment and try to reconcile past relationships. Who knows?

This is going to be the first fic I’ve posted in like almost 10 years, and the first one I’ve posted on AO3, like, ever. I feel like I’m not going to be able to describe it that accurately, but I’ll do my best.

Andrew’s therapist says he should make more friends. Matt’s truck is a piece of shit, and should really not be on the roads. Matt doesn’t actively suck, so Andrew puts as much awkward effort in as he can possibly manage, and they become friends.
Then Matt leaves for college, and Neil and his uncle move in across the street. Andrew decides that his successful friendship with Matt will be the thing that encourages him to try new things and make another friend. Maybe he can even ask for more.***
And of course, these characters don’t belong to me, they were created by Nora Sakavic.

Работа написана по мотивам книги Ребекки Яррос "Четвёртое Крыло". Однако, несмотря на многие совпадающие элементы, фанфик стоит считать отдельным произведением, который не будет полностью повторять хронологию событий, а то и противоречить ей. Так же сюжет будет продвигаться активнее, чем в книжном цикле, и я уделю деталям и сюжетным дырам больше внимания, нежели Ребекка(я по крайней мере постараюсь!). -

As practice ended, the Master strided over to the Perfect Court.
“Nathaniel, you’re needed in the East Tower.” He said in his usual strict tone.
Nathaniel started walking to the showers straight away as did Jean, but the Master stopped him. The four boys exchanged concerned and curious looks as Nathaniel started walking without Jean. The other 3 boys walked towards the changing rooms already thinking of a plan of what would happen once Neil got back, depending on who is meeting him in the East Tower.
As Nathaniel changed out of his uniform and showered in record time, he allowed his mind to wonder as to what was waiting for him as he hurried to the entrance of the tower-
In which Nathaniel, Riko, Kevin, and Jean are all brothers. Riko doesn’t abuse them because Neil was able to flip his world view before it got too bad.
