That's where their luck ran out though because they only made it to California before Mary's injuries finally bested her. In the end, his mother couldn't go on but she made Neil promise to keep running because one of them had to make it. With no other choice, Neil burned her body, buried her ashes on the beach, and did what he had promised.
Then, impossibly, things went from bad to worse — After a month of just sort of drifting in his grief, Neil found out he was pregnant.

I have never read a work by Nekojita that hasn't blown me away and this work is no different. I absolutely LOVED this fic and the beautiful world they created. Everything is so unique and interesting and I found myself theorizing about the fic until I finished it

I literally missed the major character death warning and went in thinking this would be a fun enemies to lovers with a happy ending. I was wrong, but rightfully so. This is one of the BEST and most GUT WRENCHING hurt!neil fics that I have read. Our poor boy doesn’t get a break in this fic but demesh brings everything together so beautifully that I can’t even be mad.
