They had been silent up until she spoke, but he knows. “Can’t you just talk to him?” She pleads, pushing the hand holding his cigarette away from herself. She quit years ago. Chris still allows himself this one vice.
He thinks about it. He could. It isn’t like it’s never occurred to him. But he replies, “Nah. We’re not good together.”
Well. Maybe he allows himself more than one vice.
