    Mike thought again about that night, how Will had looked at him like he was taking a visual inventory, trying to memorize it all in case it never happened again. Having that intense, yearning effect over Will was amazing. What would he do if Will didn’t want him that way anymore? And what if it wasn’t really about that at all?
    For a second, a terrifying thought occurred to Mike — what if it’s just different with him?

    In December of 1995, Mike Wheeler and his band, The Swinging Party, are on their first big headlining tour of North America. At their sold out show in New York City, Mike nurses his pained shoulder and receives a surprise visit from his estranged best friend (call it that if you want), Will Byers. Mike spends the following day in the city, killing time and partaking in his habits before he "catches up" with Will in the evening.
    Memories return. Mistakes and misdoings haunt the narrative. Potential for new beginnings arise.

    The corner of Mike’s mouth quirked up, a rare chuckle that made Will’s chest tighten. "I’m glad you like it here, Will. Because I certainly enjoy having you here."

    Will’s face heated up instantly. Before he could overanalyze the weight behind that statement, Mike cleared his throat and adjusted his tie, loosening the knot slightly. "I mean, you’re excellent at your job. You’ve made my life... significantly easier."

    Will looked down at his shoes, a small, shy smile breaking through his nerves. "Well, that’s the whole point of my job, isn't it? To make your life easier."

    Mike nodded slowly, his eyes dark and fixed on Will. He grabbed his phone from the desk, "Right."

    or; will has a crush on his boss Mike and Mike has a crush on his Assitant Will, they both don't know it, they start to get closer over time and develop a close bond, things get physical after an office party, and they have to keep their relationship hidden, although it gets hard when things start to get physical...... basically a classic secret boss/secretary relationship fic
