Summary
Liu Kang continued to stare at his own distorted image rippling across the water, his thoughtful eyes reflecting the weight of a long-forgotten past.
"I had already done so with Shujinko... How can I see myself as any different from Kronika?"
Geras observed him in silence, contemplating before speaking.
"You chose to protect the realm, even if your methods were flawed, Lord Liu Kang. You prevented outcomes that would have led to the annihilation of countless destinies. The choice wasn’t easy, no real choice ever is,"
he said, with the clarity of someone who had witnessed countless realities.
"What happened to Shang Tsung was beyond your foresight. There was no way to predict that he would find himself in a situation that, by his own words, was... miserable."The word miserable lingered uncomfortably in the air, like flies drawn to honey. Liu Kang closed his eyes for a moment, as if doing so could contain the frustration within him.

“By the Elder Gods!”
The bolt missed its intended target and nearly hit the young monks watching the fight.
“HE ALMOST KILLED US!” Liu Kang shouted, quickly moving away from the impact.
“I KNOW!” Kung Lao snapped.
“ENOUGH!” Fujin finally lost his patience, holding Raiden tightly.
Kid Thunder let out one last indignant spark before finally dissipating into energy amidst the rain.

Summary
“You should’ve killed me when you had the chance, Raiden.” The voice was distorted, nearly unrecognizable.
With a grunt, Kung Lao lifted him and spun, slamming him violently into a wall.
Only the dull thud of flesh against stone followed.
Dust filled the air. Chunks of stone scattered. Still conscious, but struggling to breathe, Raiden tried to rise. His fingers sparked weakly with lightning that quickly fizzled out.

Summary
Not surprisingly, it only took Zanka a few steps to realize that he hadn't been magically teleported to a faraway land. Instead, he realized that his body felt weird, lankier, taller. His limbs felt awkward and uncoordinated. He could feel that the clothing on his skin felt different, that the usual training gear had been exchanged for a scrappy and thin shirt paired with shorts full of patchwork. He didn't even have shoes.
No, Zanka knew that this wasn't his body to begin with.
He couldn't help himself when elated giggling escaped past his lips. He was ecstatic. Overjoyed. He felt like he would vibrate out of his skin from the excitement.
The switch — a unique and extraordinary event of two people switching bodies. Not just any people could switch, but soulmates. Those who are meant for each other. One soul split in half, inhabiting two bodies.
And now, Zanka had switched. He had met his soulmate.
Or, the Janka body swap soulmate au everyone was craving for

Summary
Another root sprouting from the dirt almost sent Dante crashing face first on the ground. Vergil teleported right before his crumbling silhouette and the red twin landed on his older brother's back.
“Hold on to me.” Vergil said as his hands shifted to grab the back of the hunter’s knees.
“What? No, I can walk, I just…”
“You need to rest. So sleep and heal. I’ll walk.” He cut the red twin off as he pushed on his legs and stood up, carrying his brother on his back.
“It’s not fair.” He protested softly but his arms shifted to wrap around his neck, his head resting on his shoulder.
“Life isn’t fair, Dante.” Vergil hummed.
“One day I’ll give you a piggyback ride too, so we’ll be even.” The hunter huffed groggily and the blue twin could feel him relax.
“Over my dead body.” Vergil scoffed, rolling his eyes at his nonsense.

Summary
The demoness lunged at Dante, her hands coming to grab his head tightly and the red half-devil flinched as he felt her lips against his.
She kissed him hard and her tongue slithered inside his mouth, parting his teeth with surprising strength.
The hunter felt something cold and sleek pass from her body into his throat and he flinched.
He snapped his head back, breaking her hold and pushed her back with all his strength. The demoness crashed down and Dante scrambled away from her.
He gagged and coughed at the awful sensation of having been forced to swallow something strange.
Something ...alive.
