Summary
Heartbreak and hockey don't mix.
Boston's Ilya Rozanov decides to do what he'd been putting off for years. He calls off his affair with Shane Hollander, Montreal extraordinaire, right before a Montreal vs Boston game. He gets a hockey puck shot right into his hamstring for it. Right in the middle of the game. Honestly, he never guessed Hollander had it in him to be vindictive.
As for Shane...it works. He didn’t want to see Rozanov anymore. In this game. In this season. And now Ilya’s out. Ball and chained to healing and recovery, pain meds and physical therapy for the next year. Maybe when Rozanov comes back, Shane will be able to stomach breathing the same air as him again.
And Rozanov will be back. That much is guaranteed. Shane just fails to measure how back Ilya Rozanov will be. If he thought Rozanov was a nightmare on the ice before his injury, he’s got a reckoning coming.

Ilya Rozanov leaves Boston and signs with Ottawa, trying to fight a slow slide into emptiness and find meaning in his life again. Shane Hollander is a lonely, struggling artist who lost his spark. When they meet by chance, they both have to decide what's worth living for.
Or…Shane never gets the chance to become a pro hockey player, so they meet a little later in life. Basically, they’re both sad boys, but the healing will be worth it. More baggage, fewer hangups.

“Yeah. Maybe we would have been rivals,” Shane said, and that got a grin out of him. He couldn’t quite imagine it, but he thought that would have been fun, facing off against Ilya Rozanov. In another life.

Love, love, love
I love that Shane and Ilya constantly reaffirms each other and that they are so connected and attuned. They have challenges but it's not due to hate or ill will. It's because of what thee have been thru on their own, and they overcome those things together.
I also really enjoy the pasing. Some parts are detailed but others aren't and some are skipt over. We now events happens but ther'e no need for the story to tell all about it.
