The prompts used in this were: “I thought you knew.” “I am the house, and the house always win.” "There’s no place for kindness in our line of work.” Checkmate
Pretty dialogue heavy, this one! I hope it still comes across as clearly as I could make it despite being whammed with the post-Finals exhaustion. Only got a week left before I head back into college again, ugggh. Anywho, I pulled some google definition of what checkmate means in literature. Some examples of what it means literally and symbolically here: Defeating someone: "He checkmated his opponent's claims with irrefutable evidence". Exclamation of victory: Used to signal the end of a struggle or conflict.
Some sentences were directly written from the "Brick and Mortar" series of the same fandom but I can't recall exactly which one at the moment. I do apologize for that. I hope you enjoy this regardless!

Summary
Ichigo sleeps, obviously, but—first with the nightmares of his mom dying, and needing to take care of the girls in the middle of the night when they were little, and then Isshin’s increasingly aggressive “training” over the years—he doesn’t sleep deeply. Not in his own house, and certainly not anywhere outside of it either. He’s learned to get shut eye when and where he can, but he’s never so deep under that he can’t snap to awareness in an instant if he needs to.
It often leaves him feeling restless, a little strung out and tense, but it’s fine. He’s gotten used to it. He’s long-since learned how to walk the knife’s edge of exhaustion.

But not at the Urahara Shoten, apparently.

I found a super cute prompt about Ichigo kinda getting an accidental baby via the Hogyoku and my brain went in an entirely different direction with it, so here you go. Have an A/B/O Verse that kinda spun out of control.
Both Ichigo and Kisuke are adults, so nothing Underage happens.

Summary
Things are almost good for a little while. There is something like safety, like healing settling over the little cabin in the snow.
It feels a little bit like coming home, Tommy thinks, but he doesn’t say it out loud. It scares him sometimes, this vulnerability, this stability that could be torn out from under his feet at any moment. Trust is something he has felt like a knife in his back over and over. Trust is falling again and again even though there’s never anyone there to catch him before he hits the ground. Trust is broken bones and split lips, trust is spitting out blood and using his tongue to check for loose teeth.
And yet, and yet, when the same hands that curled into fists once before extend as open palmed offerings, he still takes them. Dream called him stupid, helpless, naive. Dream was right, Tommy knows, but Dream smelled like gunpowder and a bitter kind of smoke.
The smoke here is sweet and Tommy has never been one to learn from his mistakes.
Tommy had been Theseus for a little while. Tommy had been Icarus, Atlas, Prometheus.
But before all of that, he had been Tommy. Maybe there was a place for him to be again, now, in the after.
