The night before the Decepticon assault in Egypt, Jetfire had some time to himself after being awoken by the humans. Praying the information he gave them would help revive the last Prime, all he could do was wait... and enjoy a fly for the first time in so, so long.
Jetfire had no idea how long he'd been in stasis, or what had happened. His memory wasn't great in his old age. But he'd make the most of his time before the upcoming battle...
But as he has his fly, he is soon interrupted. By someone he never thought he'd ever see again. And at first, he is worried how the encounter would go. However, things turn out better than expected.
Seeing Starscream again... his mate, from long ago... Jetfire decides to make the most of such an opportunity. Because he had a feeling, he may not get this chance again...

Every single year, at the edge of the city, near the vast ocean, something called the Seeker Courting Trials take place. A vital part of seeker culture, where anyone that can fly can participate in courting a seeker of their choice. There are three parts to the trials- a chase, where you have to wear the seeker down. Gift giving, where you must present the seeker with the best gift possible. And the third... you must outlast them during interfacing.
Jetfire has been observing these trials for years, and has his optic on one seeker in-particular- Starscream. He is a Prince, and is known for being one of the pickiest seekers out there. He is very hard to impress, and the trials are brutal. But one year, Jetfire decides he cannot just observe for any longer. Despite his brother trying to dissuade him from doing it, Jetfire decides to give it a try.
Despite training for years, he was still worried he wouldn't make it past all the trials... one of them, specifically. But he gives it a go anyway, just so Starscream will acknowledge his existence. But things go well... So well. Even better than he ever would have expected, and things really are not what they seem on the surface...

In a world where Orion became Optimus much sooner and somewhat against his will, he and Megatronus led a revolution together as conjunx endurae. After, while rebuilding Cybertron, Optimus Prime worries that Megatron won't be attracted to him in his new frame.
