It was the middle of the night when Till's phone rang, a loud ring echoing against the silent room as rain poured outside and his wife.. Mizi laid beside him, sleeping soundly. Till woke up groggily, rubbing his eyes as he stood up and left the bedroom quietly. As he looked at the screen, he hesitated to answer as the bright screen of an unknown number flashed through the dark living room ceiling. Then, with a swipe towards the right, the call started.
Aside from the muffled sound of pouring rain, only silence was heard through the other line. Then a familiar mumble came through. A deep, low and smooth tone, a tone he was fond of hearing from an old friend in college.
"..Who is this?" Till asked, quite wary of whoever the person who called him in the middle of the night was.
"..."
Silence.
And then, a voice."Its your fault, my dear Till."
What?
What?
What?
That cant be. Ivan is..dead.
GASP.
..Till panted, his hands shaking and body trembling, eyes widened as he sat up, looking around at his surroundings..Mizi beside him, soundly asleep and everything seemed in place. He looked to his right, seeing his phone in the right spot, unmoved. -

Mizi fumbles for her glasses. Sua is still a fuzzy blob of white-black-violet, and Mizi needs to be sure she’s real. Sua presses them into her hand, and as Mizi puts them on she snaps into sharp relief, blushing, hair mussed and haloed with the glow of fluorescent lights.
The next time she sees Sua like that, smiling and breathless and ethereal and the focus of the world, it’s on stage with a bullet in her neck. She hits the ground, porcelain and still.

Mizi blinked a few times, staring at Sua like she had just confessed to tax fraud. “So you’re basically saying,” she said, lowering her voice only because Sua’s hand was still hovering dangerously close to her mouth, “you made a bet that includes Ivan and Till, two of the most oblivious people alive.”
Sua clicked her tongue, clearly unbothered. “Lower your voice. I didn’t say it was a smart bet.”
“You bet money. On my ship. That makes me emotionally involved!”
“That makes you useful,” Sua corrected, standing up and slinging her bag over her shoulder. “Besides, they were never going to figure it out on their own. They could use a little help.”
A bet has been placed, free will is questionable at best, and Mizi is more than ready to interfere. Love might be inevitable, but a little (not that little, actually) push can't hurt anyone, right?

After a chance meeting, the two became inseperable. How will this dance upon the ice pan out?

And then Till looked over his shoulder, caught Ivan's gaze and held it. "Thank you. I know I'm really late in saying it. But I'm also really, really happy that I still have the chance to say it at all."
Till believed Ivan died sacrificing himself for him. Ivan believed Till died in the fiery destruction of the Alien Stage.
And neither knew that the other survived.
Eight years later, Till has settled into caring for the children he'd rescued from the Alien Stage Museum with the help of the rest of the Rebellion, while Ivan continues working to fulfill what he believes would have been Till's last wish. When they're reunited, they have the chance to say everything they should have said once upon a time and to discover the mutual love that once eluded them. But only if they can overcome all the scars that mark them.
