There’s something in her voice when she says it—maybe disappointment, but Taako can’t quite place it. She feels bad, probably. Thinking about their old crewmate alone in her office on Candlenights Eve—well, not alone. He overheard Magnus telling Lup about the dog he gave her a few weeks ago, how it would be good for her to have one she wasn’t alone so often. But mostly alone. Not a part of the family they’d built.
Except, that wasn’t really it, was it? Magnus brought her a puppy, he had seen Avi take a present from Lup and Barry back with him, probably for her. He’d gone shopping with Merle a few weeks ago and noticed him buying the stuff to make the tea she’d always liked back on the Starblaster. Hell, Avi, Carey, and Killian still worked for/with her. He knows he’s the problem, the one unwilling to mend the broken link between them. He knows. But he’s not willing to deal with that yet.

“I heard you wished to speak with me,” he replies, and his voice comes from everywhere around them, from the wind, the thunder, the storm itself. Beau feels it vibrating in her chest and nods quickly. This is happening, apparently. No going back.
Though, as she stands in front of the literal god, the anger that had been simmering in her chest that morning Yasha left seems to disappear. She has the same understanding as everyone else about Yasha having to leave. She hadn’t fully been okay with it until one night a few months ago that resulted in shed tears and honest words that had needed to be said. She knows Yasha has to go, trusts her to come back in spite of whatever happens to her. But she doesn’t have the same faith as Yasha does in the god standing before her.
Instead of anger and the “talking to” she mentioned all those days ago, what leaves her lips is: “Do you really keep her safe?”

“Jim! Lucius, the— Hello?” He whirls, says, “God, Izzy, where— Where is the ship, where’s the bloody ship—”
“Stede, you have to take a breath,” Izzy demands of him. He doesn’t sound angry, just— concerned, and stern, and Stede whips back around to meet his eyes, furrowed and frustrated. “Stop for a second and sit down.”
“How— How am I supposed to sit down when the crew might be dead?” Stede demands. The world is spinning a little bit, still, and he’s starting to get light-headed. His legs are throbbing; one of his arms hurts, a splintering pain that he’s trying to ignore but is becoming more present by the second. “They— I— My crew— God, my ship—”
“If the ship wrecked,” Izzy tells him, “there would be pieces of it fucking everywhere. There’s nothing here except us. They’re not here.”
“Then where are they?” Stede demands.
“I don’t know,” Izzy answers. “Bonnet, you have to sit down—”
or: stede, ed, and izzy are tossed overboard and stranded on a small deserted island. together, they adapt, they survive— and they confess.

Tim Drake is thirteen, runs the famous BatWatch blog that has spiraled hilariously out of control, has absentee parents that suit his purposes just fine, is training himself to run the streets at night, and is doing absolutely peachy, thank you.
Alfred and Jason disagree, and get Dick and Bruce involved in figuring out their weird nextdoor neighbor kid’s life. Everything goes uphill from there.

He’s been attending them ever since the age of three, when his parents first stuffed him into his little Gymboree tuxedo and gave him a stern lecture about ‘sitting quietly’ and ‘speaking when spoken to.’ He knows all the rules: what to wear, how to stand, when to smile, what to say, what not to say. He knows how to come across as polite and intelligent and charming, and on absolutely any other day, he would be rocking this.
