Bucky scrubbed at the tear tracks on his cheeks. "But you were the Chosen One."
"I know. I could talk to him. But he wasn't listening." Kristen took his hands back up in hers. "I died on the very first day of school. I believed in him and I thought he was good, and I went to Heaven and he wouldn't answer one question from me. I asked him and he turned around and left me there."[Helio abandons Bucky. Gorgug thought about artificer classes, forms signed back and forth with the changes on his transcript, multiclassing slotting into his identity where there hadn't been a space left for it on the page. He thought about streaks of white in his hair and crows feet by his eyes, changes to the face looking back at him in the mirror, growth spurts and tusks and the heft of an axe in hands that had used to draw pictures of flowers. He thought about dying and coming back to life and knowing nothing would ever be the same.
