Those two small words ruined Buck’s life.
“I’m gay,” Eddie had said to him with watery eyes. And of course Buck didn’t hesitate to hug him. To offer Eddie words of comfort. Things like “You’re still my best friend,” and “I still love you,” and “This doesn’t change a thing between us.”
That last one was a bold faced lie.
It changes everything.

“There, uh, was a girl after Ana. Her name was Marisol but…,” Eddie says, looking in Sophia’s general direction but not directly at her. “It didn’t work out. I fucked it up.”
Not what she was expecting Eddie to say but, hey, she can work with that.
“Hey, cheers to that,” Sophia says, clinking their wine glasses. “I’ve done my fair share of fucking up in relationships.”
Eddie hums but doesn’t elaborate on the fuck-up. Which is fine. Sophia may be nosy but she’s not going to pry about something that Eddie clearly doesn’t want to talk about.
“She was a nun,” Eddie says out of left field. Sophia nearly does a spit take.
“A nun?!” Sophia shrieks. “No fucking way.”

So when Eddie breaks their companionable silence one random Thursday night when they are washing dishes in Buck’s kitchen after Buck made him and Christopher dinner, Buck wasn’t fucking expecting it.

“So what’s the last thing you remember?” Buck asks.
“Honestly,” Eddie says, “The last thing that’s crystal clear is that first round.”
Buck lets out a breath, “Jeez that was so early in the night.”
“What the hell even happened?” Eddie asks Buck.
“You got white-girl wasted,” Buck laughs a little but something is missing. “Nothing much else besides you being an affectionate drunk.”
“Nothing…” Eddie’s hand drifts to where one of the marks is on his chest and he rubs it through the shirt a little. The slight pain it gives him sends a zap down his spine and wakes him up a bit more. “Nothing weird happened?”
Buck looks at him for a moment — his eyes flicker down to where Eddie is rubbing but they come back up quickly. A strange look passes over Buck’s face before he laughs with a bit more genuineness.
“No, I don’t think anything weird happened,” Buck smiles at him.

Or Eddie accidentally gets blackout drunk and wakes up with a bunch of hickeys and Buck is being weirdly cagey about it. And Hen won't stop laughing at him.

Summary
