   Summary

Quinlan fell in love with Fox from the moment he first saw him. There were many things wrong with this. First, Fox was property of the Republic. He was not free to love him back. Second: Fox trusted no one except his Commanders. Coruscant was kill or be killed, and Fox was no less of a predator than his namesake. And third, and the most damning: Fox hated his guts.

Or: Quinlan and Fox’s relationship over the Clone Wars (and how it saved the Jedi from extinction)

   Summary

Vimes knows about stoker Blakes's identity and he cannot stop thinking about it. Vetinari is more than willing to give him more to think about.

"The room was horribly quiet which only allowed the memories of sounds on the train's steering deck to resonate in Vimes’s ears louder. Constable Visit told him some time ago about a man in the desert who could hear gods speak and had such a good memory that he never forgot a single detail and Vimes felt as if he temporarily borrowed this ability. He wanted more of those moments to remember. He took a deep breath.

   “I know it was you.”

   “So I gathered.”

Vimes glanced at his boss and noticed he was smiling."

   Summary

Sam Vimes was recently hired to work in the Night Watch. It doesn't take him long to get in trouble but he ends up meeting someone very interesting.

Vimes and Vetinari could very easily have a (sort of) canon compliant past. Here is one possibility, including Sam getting into the joy of chasing criminals for the first time.

"He was convinced that the uniform couldn't be any more noticeable, but no one was paying any attention to his presence. Should he shout something? Like what? "Stop beating each other in the name of law"? That would be embarrassing.

The shadow next to him suddenly moved. A thin figure tried to quickly sneak behind him towards the exit but he caught the person's wrist before they got away."
