Summary
“You pick one yet?” Cole asks eventually.
“No.” Haymitch has not exactly bitten out his answer but it’s a near thing.
Cole turns to look at him.
Haymitch catches his gaze and huffs cynically. “Who’d you pick then? Hm? Which one of the two do you think has got the better odds? The scrawny girl who’s got no scruples offing twelve-year olds, or the tall fella with the morals? Which one would you bet on?”
Cole opens his mouth. Closes it again.
Haymitch huffs. “Thought so.” He reaches over to pluck the wine bottle out of Cole’s hands. “Not so easy is it? Deciding who gets to live.”
Cole watches Haymitch's throat bob when he takes a deep swig of the bottle. There’s a drop of wine caught on the corner of his lips.
He kind of wants to wipe it away.“We’re not deciding who gets to live,” Cole says finally. His voice comes out a bit rougher than he intended.
“No. We’re not,” Haymitch says. “We’re deciding who gets to get sponsor gifts and who doesn’t.”
Which might be the difference between life and death anyway.

When he’s ten, Orion recognizes Slytherin’s locket in the drawing room, lost amongst other nicknacks and cursed items, knowing better than to touch it.
He stares for a long while, wondering how he could’ve forgotten, before turning on his heel.
He remembers the story. How can he not? But it’s fragmented and jumbled in his head, blurring with what he knows of this life and the details he does recall don’t concern him.
There’s only so much one can remember about a book read a lifetime ago.
Orion has no interest in getting involved.
He has a life. A name. A duty to his family.

Ethan tips his liquor bottle to his mouth, intent on getting a decent buzz going before Heisenberg hauls him off to the castle, where he gets himself mauled by a Lycan again. Or speared up by deadly spikes. Or-
The alcohol burns on the way down.
Cheap vodka — again.
Liquor sloshes as he lowers it, propping it up on his thigh. “What’s the Theseus Paradox?”
Heisenberg’s brow twitches beneath the brim of his hat. “How quaint,” he murmurs. “A drunk man grasping at philosophy.”
“Answer the question.”
There’s a beat and Heisenberg shifts his grip on the hammer, metal creaking faintly as it settles against his shoulder. “It’s about identity,” he says finally. “Replace something piece by piece — every part, one at a time. At what point does it stop being the same thing?”
Ethan dies. Ethan wakes. Ethan dies. Ethan wakes. He's trapped in a cursed cycle on the worst possible day and he just can't seem to get it right. Can't save Rose. Can't save Mia. Can't do anything but die and wake up next to that overturned truck again.
Well. At least his aim gets better. -

Lalo seems as unperturbed as ever, spidery shadows twitching on his cheeks, when his eyes move behind his closed lids.
He’s still just mouthing along to the lyrics, his whole profile illuminated by the sun, every pore, wrinkle and hair follicle made visible, an effect only exacerbated by the slight sheen of sweat on his skin.
Unwittingly, Nacho’s reminded of that documentary on deep-sea life Jo and Amber had running in the background yesterday while they were high out of their mind. Of the anglerfish dangling a light in front of unsuspecting fish. Look at me, it screams. Dig your teeth in, gorge yourself. But just when you think yourself safe, when you get too close – a snap of teeth and you’re over. Done for.
Nacho is that fish. Perhaps even stupider, considering he knows exactly what he’s facing.
(AU in which soulmates can only speak the truth to one another, and Nacho's already crappy situation takes a turn for the worse when he's confronted with a sudden inability to lie to Lalo.)

Summary
Coming to terms with being in the past was not easy, but it was impossible to deny. Arriving practically on top of a Targaryen with a living dragon made sure of that. Either he had somehow ended up in the past, or he was suffering through a very vivid nightmare.
Then, as if finding himself in the past wasn't bad enough, Jon had ended up back in time right in the middle of Targaryen family drama at its worst. And unfortunately for him, the entire House of the Dragon seemed convinced he belonged in their family.
Jon would very much like to know why everyone he met was so certain he was a long dead prince. He still looked like Jon Snow. (He had checked.) There was no way he and prince Lucerys Velaryon could look so alike, right?
As they lived centuries apart, no one living ever knew that Jon Snow and Lucerys Velaryon were identical. If not for a whim of the Valyrian gods, even Jon would have remained none the wiser.
