The small piece of cloth that had fallen underneath the settee hadn’t been there the previous day as far as Daeron knew. He recognized the fabric immediately, the familiar irregular stitching of the monogram that could only have been wrought by his own hand.
It was the smell that Daeron did not recognize, something floral that could be jasmine and was neither Valarr’s nor his.
Daeron and Valarr are married, with a child, and with a dire need for communication between them.

"Can Bold Jon not grab a girl from town?" Daeron looked flustered, eyes panicked. He wasn't usually exposed to such things when they were home in Oldtown. "Surely there is...an omega that can..." The lad stopped, embarrassed by the whole thing.
The boy had the right of it, and that was how this would go, but it would fail, and then the next scheme would unfold. Gwayne rubbed his eyes, voice dry and exasperated. "Would that his delicate nose cooperated." Gods. His cousin was more trouble than he was worth.
