Summary
Chishiya had always thought of Arisu as a candle, something that wanted to keep you warm and melted itself in the process. Someone who was meant to be kept close but would burn you if held. If Arisu was a flickering warmth, then Chishiya was a biting wind.

Now, Chishiya isn't an idiot.
He knows that he can't swim and he knows that there probably aren't any mermen or sirens lurking in the water.
But it doesn't stop him from going to the edge of the seashore, near the edge of a cliff, to go gaze out at sea and wonder if there was something alive out there and beyond the known world of humanity.
( He's kind of sick of it. Maybe that's why he started visiting a place he has a great possibility of not returning from alive. He's had enough of money and stupid, stupid waiting lists, and the adults who control them.)
The edge of the cliff is usually calm.
But today, the grass was slippery and the rocks were wet and Chishiya slipped off balance, unable to latch on to anything solid, and therefore, falls into the inky, beautiful, black nothingness of the ocean at midnight.
Until someone pulls him up.
