In a city filled with death and dispair, a horrible man finds himself with the duty to eliminate someone as horrible as him. He will have to face his sins, feel them crawl all the way up his back and squirm as they eat him inside out. He might not survive it, but he can only hope he will. It was only through a stroke of luck (Hell spontaneously being occupied with a flourishing writing career on one of those human websites) that Uriel was finally able to squeeze in a board game night on with them on Earth.
But no, Uriel still didn't understand why he'd agreed to play "riichi mahjong" with them.

V1 was a machine without a past and heading into nothingness, acting as the only thing he had been trying to run away from all along: Death itself. As the ultimate harbinger of death, he had no joy in life but terrorizing.
It took one angel to change everything, for the all-devouring machine of ultimate destruction to deem life as his most sacred thing. He knew he had changed forever when he saw love in blood, adoration in gold, and salvation in Gabriel’s presence. Logic and utility lost meaning before his gradient presence; his chuckles a strike against the emptiness of existence. The world was no longer to thrive in its destruction, but to gift it to Gabriel. Bullets stopped before his presence, cries of war turned into hymns.
Or maybe they had always been that way, only V1 was the enforcer of the fate he had been trying to run away from all along. But with an angel who taught him to live the life he had been trying to preserve for so long, maybe there waited a future where civilization thrived once more. Built just to make one angel happy—Gabriel didn’t have to know that detail.
Or: V1’s overwhelming love breaks him free from his fate, and he learns to value life to make Gabriel happy.

V1 really wants to kill this motherfucking angel but he's its only way to stay alive and that kinda interferes with its plans. Hell collapsing into itself, Gabriel having his ~problems~, and a very forced/unwanted partnership also get in the way of those plans.

Gabriel's last fight in Treachery was supposed to be where he died. A death worth of everything he's gone through, to the hands of the machine who's also the cause of everything he's gone through.
When Hell collapses and his death is forced to a later date, Gabriel grabs the machine and teleports the both of them onto the war-torn earth in hopes of continuing their battle. This does not happen, much to his disappointment. Now he's stuck with this bitch of a machine.

Rated mature due to the amount of swears used by both V1 and Gabriel. And the violence, I feel as if I should mention that, maybe. Then again, this is Ultrakill.
