Exactly the thing you want to hear approximately 2 hours into your shift. Especially as Gotham’s only daytime hero. Yay.
The first thing Duke noticed was his hair. Brightly blond and somehow still spiky beyond belief, only drooping slightly despite being drenched from head to toe. He wore dark baggy pants, a black sleeveless shirt, brown boots, and gauntlets with just one pauldron on his left shoulder. But even more notable than his odd stylistic choices, was his giant-ass sword.
Definitely some kind of broadsword.
Just... huge.
Over five feet, if he had to guess. But even, even more notable was the fact that Duke’s mystery man was glowing. It was a subtle glow, and he quickly surmised that this glow was most likely more so related to Duke’s own abilities rather than the man being part glowstick or something. But still. He was glowing.

“Bat?” The younger boy deadpanned. Duke fixed him with the best glare he could, trying his best to counter the expression Damian probably was wearing.
This was stupid. Damian’s only trying to help but shit! Why could no one else understand how fucking useless he felt!?
“Damian,” Duke took a breath. “How am I supposed to help? I’m not strong anymore, I can’t even aim! I am weak!”
“Tt, nonsense.”
A beat.
“You’re one of the strongest people I know, Thomas.”

Following a tragic event when Duke lost complete control over his powers and permanently rendered him blind, Duke is forced to navigate the world with a different lens through photokinesis and manipulations of the photons in the air.

All Duke Thomas wants is to find his parents and have everything go back to normal. Gotham, and its new pain-in-the-ass Batman, has other plans.

Lance has been haunting the manor for years, but it's more of a curse, if he were to guess, as he got the one thing he hated most, only partly being seen then being ignored.. Oh and being pulled to most robins in their worst moments.. but he thinks its more a name thing then anything else.. they call for the older robin or their older brother, they mean Dickie boy, but the universe cant deliver a live person.. and he is technically their older adopted brother, even if they dont really know that.. or The family see him in the corner of there eyes when tired, a dark figure moving just out of reach, his name hasn't been spoken in years, his grave, well, overrun, he knows he wasnt the best kid but god.
That is until, a new kid joins, and keeps.. Staring, Lance guesses it's just zoning out, Tim does it sometimes.. so he ignores it.. until his name, his real name, is said and hes drawn back to his grave.. that new kid is reading his grave inscription..
Or: Duke sees of a blonde ghost walking the manor, but the ghost doesnt seem interested in talking, so he decides the learn who this is to hopefully help him move on, cuz hes nice like that.

Or: A little character study into Duke Thomas where I play fast and loose with his lore and powers. For context, in this one he went into foster care at 14 and didn't join the batfamily until he was 16. I also made his powers more emotion based and slightly inspired by the thunderbolts after watching it. By this I mean his shadow powers just started to develope and are triggered by darker thoughts and depression. Otherwise he is still a glowstick and most other powers are more accurate.
