Jimmy was born long before the Gods of the world had even begun to ponder the creation of soulmates and the Marks to identify them. Long before they had begun to create with intent rather than boredom- and thus before humans, gnomes, elves, and the many other sentient creatures which would be created with them even existed. Thus, he was born without any of the magical marks on his skin. To be fair, he wasn’t even really born with traditional skin at all- but the point still stands.
Scott was born with a bright red poppy blooming in the hollow of his throat. His parents had both been relieved to see it, the contrasting red flower on their son’s skin telling them that his soulmate was already born- and thus more likely than not an immortal. Hopefully, another elf, or one of the fae from the Overgrown, as the flower seemed to suggest.
Prince Sausage of Mythland was born with two intricate marks decorating his skin. His heart was shielded by a copper-scaled fish, a sea of aquamarine and turquoise swirls surrounding it. His hip was adorned with an aged oak branch- grown and carved into the shape of an antler.

Thirty years ago, the previous Avatar died, and since then a new one has not been found. The world of Empires is beginning to fall out of balance, despite the twelve emperors' best efforts. What’s the best way to get rid of a god? Kill them? No that won’t work, there are champions and if you are a mere mortal then the chance of actually killing a god adds up to 0. Pray to another god? Maybe but most of those gods aren’t even real and if they are, the chances of the god getting your prayers are slim but not as slim as the chances of them going along with your request, so if you don't want to wait thousands of years maybe not.
But trapping a god might just work, every god has a weakness somewhere. If you can trap them then that’s your best shot of getting rid of them. But no prison can be impenetrable forever. And when you trap a god in an egg's soul because it seems more morally correct then there is one big flaw. You don’t know who is gonna hatch out of that egg. Maybe it was a mistake to trap a tyrant of a god in a random eggs soul so that one day he might break the wall between the soul and mind so that maybe one day he will come back to terrorise someone else, maybe she is the last person who you would want to be terrorised by a cursed god.

Summary
Both Scott and Jimmy are the second-born princes in their kingdoms. Jimmy is second in line to the Ocean Empire, and Xornoth never went evil and hence rules Rivendell with Scott as the second born. Eventually, Lizzie and Xornoth get tired of the fighting, and to fully cement an alliance between them and present as a unified front towards the other kingdoms, these two boys have to get married.

“It was actually his idea,” Sausage commented causally, motioning at one of the lumps in the hay, with a few dirty pieces of blue fabric poking out.
“Huh,” Joey responded. “That's crazy, man.”
The situation was a bit awkward, as the trip back from kidnappings can be.
