Murdock was silent again while he focused on Brax as if he could actually see him, but Brax only drank his coffee before he purposely cleared his throat, which had Murdock seemingly coming out of his thoughts.
“So… my friend told me you have information on Vincent Moretti that might interest me.”

When Danny asks for Matt’s help investigating a shady pharmaceutical company upstate, the most Matt expects is a long drive, some boring business meetings, and the opportunity to get to know Danny a little better. Then things take a turn for the unexpected when Danny gets hit by a drug that destabilizes his qi.
Now as Danny struggles to not add another lake to the landscape, Matt’s got his hands full helping him out -- a handful which becomes more literal than anticipated after Matt proposes an... unconventional method of treatment.

Foggy was at Matt’s side in an instant, hugging him carefully to not cause him any more pain. Matt clung weakly to him while he cried. Foggy didn’t need to ask what Matt couldn’t remember, because the answer clearly was anything. It didn’t seem like he was just dazed from the drugs, but had some sort of amnesia.
“We’re in a relationship,” Foggy lied, with a sad smile Matt thankfully couldn’t see and who was too distressed to detect the lie at the moment.

Matt parts his lips, ready to offer some excuse, but in the end he only shrugs. "I don't know. Maybe I'm feeling nostalgic."
"And in your moment of nostalgia, you chose to call me of all people." It's not a question, though it comes out quieter than usual. Matt shrugs again, even if Frank can't see it.
"Who else could it be?" Matt lets out a smile, a small thing edged with bitterness and faint self-mockery.
(Or, since he was nine years old, Matt has learned to let go. Some things are easier; others not so much.)

Matt crosses the rest of the room in a heartbeat, wrapping his arms around his friend and squeezing tight as though to test his reality against the creeping fear that his mental state has deteriorated further than he realized and he has somehow hallucinated this whole situation.
“Wait, but— how are you here? You should be dead.”
“Yikes, buddy. Sure making me feel welcome over here,” Foggy says, pulling an exaggerated face.
Matt closes his eyes and shakes his head, shame blooming hot in his stomach. But it is followed closely by a gnawing sense of uneasiness that something about this situation just isn’t right. “Hey, come on. I mean, I’m thrilled to see you, but I was at your funeral, Fog. I was there when they buried you.”
“Well, I guess it didn’t take,” Foggy says with a shrug that mocks the gravity of the situation. “You know a thing or two about that, don’t you?”

Jessica is thankful he doesn’t want to outright discuss them, like some religious nut wanting to reassure her ‘everything happens for a reason’. Something that only ever happens when the mysterious redhead man slides into his life again.
