    In 2023, Shane takes a bad hit on the ice. When he wakes up, the last thing he remembers is a tuna melt.

    Shane transfers to a new college team and he has anger issues after what happened with his old team. Ilya antagonizes him but after he reveals a little about his past they kiss. rose asks Shane out but it’s Holland endgame. They finally have a good kiss in chapter 9 where everyone sees. They go to rose’s musical in the last chapter where a prank goes awry and Ilya shows up in a nice blazer and Shane and the rest of the cens show up in hockey jerseys. Marly is a bumbling idiot around rose and Ilya mimes what he should say to her. They all carpool to a restaurant and Ilya sits in Shane’s lap in the car. Cassandra is marly’s sister and gets together with Bood.

    An exploration of Shane and his queerness, told through a series of (smutty!) connected stories than can be read together or alone.

    1) “saline and titanium”
    After crashing out over whether he is sufficiently queer, Shane makes the drunken and impulsive decision to get his nipples pierced. Who could have thought two such tiny pieces of metal could cause so much spiralling?

    2) “nitrates and tequila”
    During their honeymoon in Ibiza, Shane decides he wants to try something new. Two new things, actually. Ilya, as always, is there for whatever he needs.

    3) “latex and talking points”
    When Public Health Canada approaches Shane about being the face of a sexual health campaign targeted at queer men, Shane’s old fears bubble to the surface. He never wanted to be known as a gay activist but he is sick of feeling like he is letting his new-found community down as he tries to focus on his first season as an Ottawa Centaur. A new friendship with a PWHL star and the unswerving adoration of his husband Ilya help him navigate questions of guilt, identity and what we owe each other, all while he tries to win another damn cup.

    Featuring anxiety over not being to able to separate queerness (shane not wanting people to be uncomfortable with his gayness at work and PDA with Ilya at work) and Asian identity, a day where he’s double booked at a children’s hospital and an Canadian- awards ceremony (he says he’s sick and cancels in both and Ilya says they could have just re scheduled the hospital), arguments (where Shane thinks thre solution is to sleep in separate beds for the night but Ilya stops him) and hugs, and at the end they win the Stanley cup and get tattoos of the other’s numbers (and Ilya already has a loon tattoo and one of an Ibizan wall lizard from their honeymoon).

    Rookie Ilya is off his game and Wiebe sends him to retired veteran Shane for the summer to set his game straight. they practice and review tape together and Shane calls Ilya lazy and Ilya gets pissed and says he doesn’t mind being called other things but he hates being called lazy. Shane apologizes and they move on. Ilya also practically begs Shane to call him by his first name and not Rozanov. They end up fucking but Shane is hesitant because the reason why he recited is he got caught by Drapeau kissing another man. Ilya is interested in more with Shane but Shane says Ilya’s only 22 and he’s got his whole life ahead of him. Ilya is sad about hearing that and tells Shane as much by implying it and Shane says at least they have the whole rest of the summer. Ambiguous ending
