Summary
He can’t breathe.
The tail yanks, and suddenly his back is slamming into the hard ground, the impact detonating every wound. He feels it all, and it’s agony. Ripping, shredding. The worst pain he’s ever known.
His heart stutters and kicks in his chest as his mind screams at him to get back up, to run, to do anything to survive; but he can’t. He’s pinned down, spread eagle on the dead ground, a storm of wings and teeth closing in.
Red lightning flashes above him, bathing everything in crimson, reminding him that he is in literal Hell.
He’s being eaten alive, and all he can think as the pain starts to blur is, I’m not ready.
Please. Not like this. Not now.
Please.
And then, from somewhere above all the madness that has become Eddie’s entire existence, a shape plunges into the wild fray. A human shape. An avenging angel, wielding a weathered baseball bat filled with bloody nails like it's a prayer in the dark.
An answer to his silent plea.

Summary
Crossroads dirt holds. There’s no cleaning that mark off of you, Munson. Not anymore. Not this close to the end.
Eddie Munson’s doing all right for himself. He’s studying music on scholarship, he’s free in the big city, and he finally gets to see the uncle his parents separated him from when he was young. While researching for a school project, he stumbles upon the story of two bluegrass musicians who died under mysterious circumstances. As if that wasn’t enough, there’s a missing song absent from their recordings and a third unidentified member of the band who vanished without a trace. Nobody knows who they are, but Eddie has a guess — his uncle, Wayne Munson. The adventure of a lifetime and the chance to have it all are waiting if he can just convince Wayne to take him there. Together with Steve Harrington, a nurse at Wayne’s assisted living facility, Eddie stages a breakout and the three of them begin a journey south that gives them all much more than they bargained for. After all, the devil is always in the details.
