Shane states that he often feels as if he cannot express his emotions in a way that is understandable to others. Notably, he exhibits a constricted affect in speech and facial expressions. In interviews, he often relies on rehearsed phrases and displays of emotion to avoid misinterpretation; however, these displays are unconvincing, regardless of whether they match his true feelings.
